Galaxy: Odds and Ends For the Week (with a Little Bit of Snark)
By: Laurie | February 24th, 2007– The Galaxy was supposed to play yesterday against a team that may or may not have been the Bermuda National Team. (I’ve read conflicting reports.) The game was scheduled for yesterday evening, but on Thursday the Galaxy-Revolution audio broadcast said that they were expecting storms and gale-force winds before game time and might have to cancel. (Wimps.) As usual, the Galaxy website is giving no information. I’ll dig further and see what I can find.
– Becks and Posh have been househunting in LA, with no luck. They’ve looked at “just about every Westside estate listed in the $18 million to $30 million range” but alas, have found nothing to their liking. I guess $30 million just doesn’t buy what it used to. One rumor going around says that they’re interested in Madonna’s house. A thought that gave me visions of a star-struck Posh, about twenty years ago, twelve years old or so, dressed in her MadonnaWannaBe clothes and headband, singing into her hairbrush. I regret to tell you that I found this vision kind of endearing.
Oh, and you can check out pictures of Posh and the kids doing Disneyland at Kickette.com. The happiest place on earth.
– And in sad news, news that brings me pain in my maternal area, (even above and beyond that caused by the own-goal on Thursday), I regret to inform you that Portuguese open-tryout pick Rui Fortes has been cut. And I never even saw a picture, so I can’t tell you if he looks like Cristiano Ronaldo, or a young Luis Figo. Team cuts are by far the worst part about declaring yourself Unofficial Team Mom. On the other hand, the French guy, Laurent Merlin, made the trip to Bermuda, all expenses paid (allthough he didn’t play on Thursday.) So team or no team, Laurent’s got that to tell the grandkids.
That’s it for the weekend, folks. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. And go Galaxy!
