Galaxy Quick Updates

The Real Madrid-playing-the-Galaxy rumor was false. Of course it was. “We’re entering the busiest part of our summer just then,” relayed a team liaison. “We have enough planned without that.”

Sigh. I was having these glorious visions of the Galaxy leaving at halftime, sans Beckham, in Green and Gold, then coming back onto the field With Beckham, proudly clad in their new navy and gold kits in this glorious Hollywood extravaganza with, like, smoke machines! And navy-and-gold fireworks! And the theme from Rocky blaring over the loudspeakers!

Oh, well. On to the Next Glorious Marketing Idea. Whatever that is. (Thanks to reader Ben for the link.)

And reader Jason has provided us with an interesting link to another picture from the Beckham Adidas photo shoot. (This one goes along with the ghetto duds photo.) Officially, this photo shoot has nothing to do with the Galaxy. (Although check out the background. Is that…a…a… GALAXY in the photo? Whoa. How’s that for subliminal marketing?) Unofficially, though? Check out the colors, folks. Dark navy and gold. And not that putrid mustard yellow that the Galaxy are currently calling “gold,” either. A real metallic gold. Classy color scheme. Are you excited at the possitilities? Because I’m excited. How much would I love to see this on the new kit? A LOT, that’s how much. These colors might actually cause me to buy a ~~Beckham~~ Galaxy jersey.

Tour, no tour, tour, we may never know unless we find the team sitting in our living rooms (sigh, call me immediately if they show up in yours, I can be there in five hours--I'll do the same if any French teams show up here). And people wonder why I dislike Calderon, aside from the fact that he lies cheats and steals.

I saw Landon Donovan's hat trick against Ecuador yesterday and was thrilled by being that much closer to becoming a real Galaxy fan (as well as by the hat trick of course, and that 3rd goal...my, my). It made me promise to watch each player I can separately until I finally get them on my TV as a team.
Hmmm, some of the other "ghetto" shots are REALLY old and this one is REALLY new, I think you're on to something. I like it and I also think we should buy shirts in these colors now, before the herbalife logo goes on :( yuch. How can I be sure you guys aren't brainwashing me instead of teaching me everything there is to know about MLS?
