Galaxy Should Drain Real Salt Lake
By: jen | June 13th, 2009
Are you watching? (FS-PT –TD 8:30 pm, DK)
“The past four meetings between Salt Lake and Los Angeles have ended in 2-2 draws,” says ESPN’s site. Methinks that won’t be the outcome this time.
So what if they have their very own branded jet, Real Salt Lake (3-6-3) can’t seem to catch a break on the pitch. RSL has been winless in the past seven games, and has yet to score a goal on the road this season. Former Galaxy guy Clint Mathis will be the one to watch in the midfield as he seems to be the creative spark for RSL.
For the Galaxy, well, we are on an upswing. Landon is in South Africa for the Confederations Cup, but that seems to be okay because Edson Buddle and *gasp* Alan Gordon have been stepping up.
We should win. We should play well and get another boost in confidence. It’s going to be a satisfying game to watch — to see our guys play their game with confidence.

Jen – This is exactly how I feel about tonight’s game. The G’s confidence level is on the rise and will rise even further with a great result against RSL. I have a feeling that it’s going to be a good night for our team. Can’t wait!

I’m watching some earlier games, and Josh Wicks is having a HUGE game for DC against Chicago right now. Good for him1

Are any of you watching the game live on Direct Kick? FSPT is showing it on a one hour delay. I don’t want to make any comments and spoil the game . . .

Ominous beginning. In the 13th minute Movsisian scored for RSL. We have been looking great and nearly just scored again. But they are up. Maybe Nathan’s theory works though and we play harder because we’re down.

Well, it’s not all bad. Tonight is the best I’ve seen the team play all year. If it wasn’t for the pesky goal that might be saying something.
Gordon has been admirable, despite a coupke of tough shanks. Buddle is a blessing. Ricketts rocks. Dema has even been dishing it out. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Some notable weaknesses: center mid. I think three times in the first half I saw Tudela get beat and then climb on top of the opposing player. More than once the center mid has been devoid of Galaxy players. Magee has missed opportunities and done little to push the attack. Both remain disappointing to me. And apparently to The Bruce based on the rumors we’ve seen.
Let’s hope for a better second half.

2 nil. Mathis beat Gordon on the wing, centered it in, and boom. Beautiful play by RSL. Not sure where the Galaxy were.

Gordon is just not up to the task of finishing, ahhhhhhh. we’ve had some chances but just don’t have any luck on our side right now.

Lewis is an idiot for throwing the ball at him.

Jesus! Kirovski comes in and gets an immediate yellow. In the aftermath, Lewis throws the ball at the player on the ground and draws a red. Totally inexcusable.

Think Gonzalez might be getting a little frustrated? Rough tackle. Yellow.

tough loss, I think we out played RSL but just didn’t have any luck on our side. Plus I thought our players were getting beat up a little out there and not getting the calls.

Dema was better than usual. Gonzalez was good. Glad to have Buddle back in. But otherwise a thoroughly disappointing night.

Kirovski and Gordon were absolutely Horrible! Lewis does a stupid ass decision. Behalter looked like a rookie on the first goal instead of the bundesliga experienced player?! THE WORST GALAXY GAME I HAVE BEEN TOO!

I can’t believe anyone is saying that’s the best we’ve played all year. I thought you were being sarcastic.
This is the worst we’ve looked. We had NO midfield at all. Nothing. For the longest time, I didn’t even know Magee was on the field. And Dema has nothing going forward; he can’t make a decent pass to save his life.
I was very, very disappointed in this effort. We got beat all over the field, even in goal. They’ve just got to forget it and move on.

I’m kinda with Nicole here. I was actually distracted by other things while watching the game, it was a bit boring.
I agree that Lewis made a stupid move. You could read his lips in the replay. He walks up to the ref and says, “that’s bullshit!” then gets the ball and throws it.

All I can say is wow… What a horrible game. The midfield, or lack thereof, was non-existent. I forgot Tudela was playing until they announced he was subbed out. A truly embarrassing match. I hope when July 1 rolls around, we fire the entire midfield. And once again the MLS refs don’t disappoint. A stupid mistake by Eddie, but what a soft red card. I think, hate to say it, the smurfs are going to beat us. Houston is going to destroy us.

I just gotta point out, there is no such thing as a soft red card. Either it’s a red card offense or it’s not. Eddie has been playing this game a long time, he should really know better.
