Galaxy vs. Crew, Bryan Jordan is Starting!
By: jen | September 26th, 2009
I didn’t have time away from the family to write a preview.
But check it out — Bryan Jordan is starting up top. How many times have we wanted to see what he can do up there? And of course my maternal side is sooo happy for him!
Eddie Lewis is out with Sean Franklin in his place. Donovan, Migs, and Birchall round out the midfield (Becks out with a small injury).
Ohh, I hope this is a good game!

I don’t care about Landon’s lipgloss or his interview manner, but I do care that he seemed not bothered about this match. I had such high hopes that the troops would be fired up because they were being called the underdogs — and because so many of them were playing against their old team. But the captain seemed particularly out of it, did I miss something? Very disappointed.

I don’t know, Diane. The entire team seemed completely out of it. No verve whatsoever.
You know who’s good in those situations? Chris Klein. I’ve seen him come off the bench in the 60th or 75th minute and really fire up the team. He hustles every step and creates chances. On a night like last night I would have started him instead of AJ or Jordan.
We definitely missed Beckham last night. I don’t know that we missed his play (although we sure needed his accuracy) as much as we missed his calming presence on the field. When Beckham has the ball no one needs to worry. Landon can be more creative. Migs can be less concerned about hustling back. Becks just doesn’t lose the ball very often, and he doesn’t pass his team into trouble. He makes smart passes, constructive passes. Not passes that are opportunistic 50/50 balls.
News is that Miglioranzi may be out a significant amount of time due to his groin injury. I like Birchall in the holding midfielder spot as much or more than Migs. He is tireless and gives Beckham the opportunity to play more offensively. I think we’ll see that next weekend.
And please, Bruce, no more Kirovski as holding midfielder, okay? He looked lost in there.
We need to keep getting points, that’s for sure, but I hope we can get this mental game fixed in time for the playoffs.

Disappointing game for sure, I agree Jen the team never seemed to be into it. Were suppose to be looking solid and confident heading towards the post season and maybe even putting in a run for the supports shield but not after last nights performance.

Agree on all counts, Jen. And you know how I feel about Chris Klein, I was probably extra cranky because of his absence — and how I agree that the team missed him in that situation! The mind of a manager works in mysterious ways…
