Galaxy vs. FC Barcelona Highlights

By: jen | August 2nd, 2009

Please excuse the link on the video — but after much scouring of youtube this was the best resolution of the highlights.

Beautiful, classic Beckham free kick! And someone needs to make a highlight reel of Landon’s runs at the Barca defense.

Question: Why wasn’t Ricketts playing? Just giving The Kid some experience? Or did Ricketts play first half while I wasn’t watching?

Ricketts didn’t practice all week. Still trying to recover from slamming his back on the goal post in the KC game.

Oh, right, I saw that in the highlights. That looked like it HURT.

I came across this nice article about the game.

I’m glad Gonzalez got a jersey after all – hopefully next time he’ll have the nerve to ask someone to exchange with him. He’s earned it!

Watched the first half until the 40th minute (snuck in a little time while moving to a new house), and I guessed I missed one of the best free kicks from Becks in a while.

2-1 is definitely respectable, considering the god awful 4-5-1 formation and the fact that Barca was playing in front of a home crowd, essentially.

I think the 4-4-2 lineup with Donovan up top is the best one for us for the rest of the season…

Colin, I agree with your 4-4-2 assessment.

And do did Bruce. He switched out of that 4-5-1 after about 25 minutes.
