Galaxy vs. ‘Quakes PreGame
By: jen | June 13th, 2008I’ve been super busy with life in general and haven’t the umph to write a preview of the game. Instead, I’ve got a link for you this time:
Goal.com has a good preview.
It’s a quiet Friday in MLS Preview-land. Most of the other links are the same piece which includes comments from last week’s game, which we have already hashed out.
No Donovan (USMNT), no Ruiz (GuatemalaMNT), no Gordon (red card). Just Buddle, Beckham, and Allen for offense. Hopefully Ruud puts Pete Vagenas in the lineup again (yeah, yeah, I know) — he did have a decent game last week and proved a valuable link in the midfield on offense.
So that’s it. I’ll be here in the comments section during the game. I’m looking forward to another two days of soccer to watch (Galaxy on Saturday, USMNT v. Barbados on Sunday). I watched The Netherlands kick France’s patootie today (sorry Laurie). Man, those Dutch are on FIRE!
Go Galaxy! Go US! And boy could I use some of this weather right about now.

Digress as much as you like, Diane. There is some beautiful football being played in Europe right now. Henry is playing well too. I think I saw (on ESPN at work, on mute) that Italy and France play on Tuesday — I’ll need to set my DVR again.

Tudela starting in midfield. Buddle up on the left, with Allen on the right. Jazic at left mid.

Getting that early goal is huge.

Is it just me (or the camera angle), or does the field look a bit tight??

I hadn’t really noticed until you mentioned it but
it does look narrow.Posted from

We’re doing a good job going to the ball. Tudela is doing a good job finding open players.

I started watching a little late but from what I’ve seen were looking good, making some nice passes and winning 50/50 balls. just saw a replay of Buddle’s goal. nice volley!

Yeah, the team is playing well. Ely hit one off the
post. Josh is having a good game. Nice to see.Posted from

If we stay this passive with Becks a non-factor, we’re
going to be in trouble.Posted from

perfect cross and header, Goal Buddle!

Landon better hurry back or he’s going to loose his
scoring lead.

Was at the game. All I gotta say is I was so excited to see Ante Jazic play! I love that guy. And yer Becks kept grabbing his groin. ruh row. I dunno about the field being tight. Not as tight as Spartan. Just sayin’.

In what positions did he start everyone? Looks like Allen was forward and Jazic mid? Randolph back? Oh, and what ever happened to Vanney?

Clean Sheet! As great as it was to see the offense continue to thrive, even in the absence of Donovan and Ruiz–can Buddle keep this up?–I was most impressed by the defense. As consistent an effort as I’ve seen all year from the Galaxy. This team just may have championship hopes after all.

hey…congrats to the Gs! congrats to us!
but…i don’t think that Becks will play in the next match though! i’m scared to think what will happen if he didn’t! will Donovan be there next match? or will he be with the US squad?

Yes, David, Allen was up with Jazic and mid and Randolph in the back. Ruud told the team at halftime that they needed to get the ball up the left side more. Think that worked?
Donovan will be out next week as well. The USMNT play in Barbados on Sunday, while the Galaxy play the Crew at home on Saturday.

wow..Donovan will be out again? and probably Becks too? i hope Becks injury wasn’t injury at all! i just started to gain confidence that we will continue to have straight wins with the confidence we’ve got in the team now. i just hope that next week will be the start.

Any ideas on where I could download this game? Or if it’s gonna be replayed ever? There’s so much euro madness right now… not that I’m complaining.
