Galaxy vs. RSL Preview: The Battle for the Cellar
By: Laurie | June 17th, 2007This game could be a tough one for either LA or RSL, because today is the day where we may get the definitive answer to the following question: Which team is the absolute worst in MLS?
Unless, of course, we get a draw, which is a fair possibility. In which case both teams can hold hands and go skipping off into the sunset together, knowing that we can continue to share the “We Totally Suck” title. Because, as any kindergartner can tell you, sharing scary stuff is SO much better than going it alone.
How demoralized are things surrounding the Galaxy? So demoralized that I can’t even find a link to The Galaxy Game Guide. How much does this break my heart? I LOVE the Galaxy Game Guide. Even though it has yet to include an accurate starting lineup.
We will again get no help from Ante Jazic, Kevin Harmse or Landon Donovan because of that stupid Gold Cup thing. And both Canada and the US won their most recent games, so they’re not coming home right away. Losers.
On the plus side though? Eddie Buddle, newly acquired from Toronto, is here and destined to be the new Galaxy scoring god. Am I right?
And I have no idea whether or not Abel-the-hair has gotten his work permit. I would guess no, since nobody’s reporting on it.
The statistic of the match, as usual lately, will be the injury report. So let’s take another look, shall we?
INJURY REPORT: LOS ANGELES GALAXY - OUT: DF Chris Albright (R hamstring), FW Gavin Glinton (sports hernia); FW Alan Gordon (L foot stress fracture); DF Ian Russell (R hamstring); QUESTIONABLE: DF Troy Roberts (R hip); MF Quavas Kirk (plantar fasciitis); PROBABLE: FW Nate Jaqua (R wrist surgery) …
REAL SALT LAKE - QUESTIONABLE: DF Jean-Martial Kipré (L adductor strain)
I hear Quavas Kirk will at least be on the bench again. It was good to see that he played last week. (And no, I still haven’t gotten around to watching the match. It’s on my to-do list, along with eating more brussels sprouts and paying bills — painful things that you feel you should do but REALLY don’t want to.) But I’m relatively certain I’ll be able to see tonight’s.

It still won’t fully answer it. LA has a couple games in hand. And despite knocking in 3 at NE, Columbus is 100% part of that discussion.

Let it begin. T-minus one half hour until either Laurie or myself FINALLY have bragging rights over at least one MLS team blogger … that being Laurie or myself. I really would put money on a draw, but who knows … I wouldn’t have seen TFC blowing out Dallas either. Just try not to break any of our legs, okay?

Oh goddammit, Danny Torres … 1-0 Galaxy at minute 4.

Allen, I actually started to explain the whole games-in-hand thing, but I’m essentially lazy and it’s easier just to whine.
And Ian: Sorry, dude. I’m not sure how we allowed this to happen, but you guys suck the worst. (But your away uniform still rocks.)
