Galaxy’s New Goalkeeper, Lance Friesz
By: Laurie | March 29th, 2007
I read this last week and forgot to write about it. Sorry, Lance! From the Galaxy Website:
The Galaxy have signed goalkeeper Lance Friesz from the University of San Diego, and placed him on their Developmental Roster. Friesz, a native of Laguna Niguel, Calif., was acquired by the club off waivers on Monday. The 23-year old appeared in and started 76 games for the Toreros in his four years with the program, recording a 37-25-13 record while posting 21 shutouts from 2003-2006. As a freshman in 2003, he was named to the All-West Coast Conference Second Team after posting a 12-4-4 record with a 0.76 goals against average, helping USD reach the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.
Lance is apparently taking the place of our dear, departed SuperDraft pick Tally Hall, who left the US for the greener pastures of Denmark. (Hmm… Do they really have green pastures in Denmark at this time of year? Must research this.)
I don’t know a lot about Lance, actually. His LA Galaxy Roster Page reads:
name: Lance Friesz
position: GK
height:
weight:0
Weight zero, eh? Do you think Posh is in awe or what?
(Okay, okay, making Posh anorexia jokes is in poor taste. But since when has that ever stopped me?)
Wait, here we go. His college player bio. Which lists him at a healthy 6′3″ and 190. This is kind of a relief, because I was a little worried about how a vapor could stop shots.
But at any rate. Welcome, Lance!
