Jen, did you see Mathis is back and doing some training with the Galaxy. I'm interested in seeing what happens, he could be a help holding midfield, here's some pictures:

Okay, okay, okay. Maybe not always freakishly skilled, but he has his moments. You guys give me such grief! :)

I hope to have a San Jose pregame post up tomorrow. Thanks for the warning about our forwards. Ay yi yi.

An interesting stat on Donovan from the LA Times this week:

"Landon Donovan, at 26 years, 3 months, 4 days, became the fourth-youngest player to make 100 international appearances when he helped the U.S. tie Argentina, 0-0, in front of 78,682 at Giants Stadium on Sunday.

The three players who reached the 100-cap mark at a younger age were South Korea's Cha Bum-Kun, who was 24, and Saudi Arabia's Sami Al-Jaber and Mohammed Al-Deayea, who both were 25."

I read that Jordan was loaned out to some A-league team. Allen may start up front?

How about LA's striker situation for the SJ game:

Ruiz - Guatemala
Donovan - U.S.
Gordon - Suspended

Buddle went off with a contusion last game, but hopefully he'll be able to play. Even so, I still don't feel that comfortable with him as a lone striker, or partnered with Jordan. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I read that some words were said (descent) from Mastroeni, if he did they didn't show it. I think most of these ref's are crap. although this game wasn't too awfully bad from this ref, most games seem to go the other way with the US getting unfair calls.

I just watched the game tonight. Can somebody explain the red card given to Mastroeni? What did he do to get a second yellow? The ESPN announcers never gave an explanation.
Do the ref's get evaluated? It sure seemed like a strange call.

While I wouldn't go so far as to qualify Landycakes as a "freakishly skilled" player, mainly because until recently he was in a serious slump--at best, I thoroughly enjoyed his work against ARG.

Hard match to watch because I am an Argentine fan plus the "local" boys are from my own continent and there were faces I've been wanting to see on the USMNT for a while and got to see them... but I found myself cheering the locals on full voiced. I was watching on DVR and it was late and my neighbor came down to see what all the commotion was about, he stayed and was impressed by what he saw. He kept saying, who's that London guy? Even if it was just the shoes, it was great stuff and I was proud to be a Galaxy fan and proud of Lando too. Of course, I was very happy with Danny Califf, a former Galaxian... a guy I used to howl at to no end at the Arroyo... he's come a very long way and I gave him a standing O.

Congratulations Landon, I think 100 caps is a fantastic achievment irrespective of what nation. I heard the yahoos on the 606 the other day belittling Landon and being generally negative. I don't get that, he choose not to play in Europe anymore, it was his choice and he was entitled to make. I'm just happy he's a Galaxy player, he gives 100%, i know he doesn't dive in to a lot of 50-50 balls but so what. In my opinion he is the best US born outfield player of all time.
