Haltime: Galaxy 0-0 Rapids
By: Laurie | May 26th, 2007Well, that’s forty-five minutes none of us will ever get back. What a waste of soccer. LA was looking pathetic and lost before Kyle Martino got red-carded in the 25th. Since then it’s been excruciating, and it’s requiring all of my energy to keep from turning it off. And I would love to have a quarter for every time we’ve turned the ball over for no reason.
Chris Albright is hugely missed, and LA’s midfield sucks. Santino Quaranta is practically invisible. Landon Donovan is the only one playing with any energy, and he’s not getting the ball because everybody behind him is cheerfully giving away possession at every opportunity.
And what was the deal with the red card? It looked to me like Martino came in with a bad tackle on Gomez, Gomez slammed him in the legs a couple of times with his cleats as they were rolling on the ground, and Martino came up swinging and had to be pulled away. Then Kyle seemed shocked, shocked! to be ejected. At least Gomez got a yellow.
So now LA is playing miserably and down a man and mile high where there’s no oxygen. The only thing we have going for us is that Colorado hasn’t been able to put it away. I’m thinking second half is calling for a glass of wine. Or two.
Sigh. Think Abel Xavier can save us?
