Heading to the HDC for the Open Cup?

Franklin was playing at Right Mid if I recall correctly. I made a mistake up there when I said we played really well. I meant to say we played much better. There was more passing and a lot less wild balls over the top from the back.

Now if the defense can hold w/ Berhalter, Marshall, Gonzalez (hey, did Franklin play??)...now if the D can hold, maybe get a healthy Ricketts back in the net (no one really knows about that card yet), and then get service from Beckham to Donovan and Buddle w/ Eddie Lewis and Klein filling in the gaps, we could actually have something...someday...maybe...;-)

For those following the real drama of the night, Nathan and I did manage to meet up.

I liked our defense way better tonight. I don't want to see Sanneh on the pitch anymore.I'd much rather have Marshall in there. We played really well but we just couldn't finish.

There were many shots but not many of them were on target. We had a couple good ones on target but Burpo got them. Alan Gordon had a goal and then there was a BS offsides called on it.

We can not go to PKs while we still have Saunders. He is pure garbage... and then a little worse than that on PKs. Saunders did have one really amazing save though.

Looks like you had the running blog from a couple of guys
with better tech than I have but I'll leave my impressions
of the game if only to get it out of my system.

Overall, sad. Just plain sad. Up a man for damn near
100 minutes and we can't seal the deal.

In the credit where credits due department, Saunders
came up with a pair of very nice saves at the end
of the game to keep us from loosing earlier. How
pathetic is that?

I thought Berhaulter looked pretty good. He kept a
back line of three rookies in good shape and provided
a leading force back there.

Gonzalez made a few mistakes but in general contributed
more positive than negative. DeLaGarza looked much
better than a couple of weeks ago.

Kyle Patterson is just a human turn over. Nuff Said.

Miglioranzi did not impress. Given his seniority we
must be paying him more than he seems to be worth.

I really like Jordan's hustle and work rate but he just
doesn't have any flair with the ball. He had several
chances he didn't make anything of and provided the best
save of the night for Colorado when he took a blast from
Gordon in the chest to prevent a goal. He also couldn't
get a break from the Ref. The Colorado defensemen just
pushed him around all night.

Tristan Bowen was sort of neutral but, heck, he's just
17 and I think this was his first time in a Galaxy
uniform.

Gordon came on in the 60th minute and has some good
chances but he still has a first touch of stone. Klein
also came on in the 60th and provided some good service
but that's about it.

I don't think I have anything to say about the other
players, McGee, Tudela, Marshall or Kirovski.

Galaxy loses on PKs. 4-2. Burpo saves Magee and ummm, Klein?

crap, another loss to PK's. hard to take much more of this :)

Nobody can take a dreary and essentially meaningless game to penalties quite the way LA can. :-(

And the game goes to overtime. The next 30 minutes are going to be frustrating. You would never know that the Galaxy are up a man.

Game starting to get eye-bleedingly bad.

Goal waved off for offsides. Disputable call, I'd like to say.

Gordon scored a goal but called back on a terrible offside call.

Overall the quality of play was pretty ragged as you might expect from the B teams on the field.

Patterson off for Klein. Bowen off for Gordon.

A couple of decent chances for the galaxy. Franklin barely missed a tap in as it careened across the goal line. And just missed another tough one at close range.

Nathan, come over to section 103 at the half and I will meet you up top with a ticket. I'll be the one with a rose in my mouth. No, really, guy in a hooded Galaxy sweatshirt.

Red card to Dalby. Pretty soft red given that he was going for a ball he basically won. As a fan I'll take it.

Nathan, I'm about 10 feet left of that optimistic banner and have an extra ticket for the front row of section 103 if you want to join us for the second half.

Red card to Rapids. Galaxy up a man. Even with this B squad we should get a W! Good to see Berhalter out there.

There's a banner here that says "LA Galaxy will crush AC Milan." Optimistic, I think.

Yeah, David. There are about 1000 people here in the drizzle and wind. Got stuck in GA because they closed the second level. Hilariously pathetic fan turn out. Not that you can blame us.

30 minutes to game time. Stadium is pretty empty. The sky is black and it is drizzling. And I just discovered that the HDC does not allow umbrellas!
