Hey! Alexi Lalas Can Read!

By: Laurie | March 2nd, 2007

Here’s one good thing about soccer in the US. Our players tend to be college graduates. Which means that, generally, they’re literate. I don’t think you could do a reading promotion like this in, say, England. Although there might be some of the brighter English players who’d be more than capable. Like, say, Arsenal’s Thierry Henry. Who’s actually French. Which means he’d do it with a French accent. And then he’d…uh…um…uhhh…

Oh! Sorry! Lost my train of thought. Reading! Yes! Since the Galaxy website is giving me nothing of substance, I’ve decided to use what they’re giving me. Which in this case is their “Read Along with the Galaxy” promotion using players and Alexi Lalas himself.

Today, Galaxy players Steve Cronin, Josh Gardner, Troy Roberts and Kyle Veris, along with 2007 Miss L.A. Galaxy Candice Hansard and court member Kelly Moseley, will be on hand to read Dr. Seuss and soccer-themed books to students at Leapwood Avenue Elementary in Carson

Awww. That’s sweet! Now do you want to see Alexi and the adorable Cobi Jones read “The Cat in the Hat”? Of course you do!!Click here.

I wanted to embed the video, but couldn’t find anyplace carrying the code. But here’s what I found instead. A video of Alexi, back a few years, playing soccer and playing the guitar. Well, okay, not at the same time. But seriously, it’s worth seeing. Enjoy the beard!
