Hey! We Beat The Chicago Fire!

The website trumpets that we are now 4-1-1!! Yea! Hooray!

Of course, against actual MLS-level teams, we’re 1-1-1, but why quash the excitement?

Our Galaxy guys played the Chicago Fire Wednesday and actually won, 2-1. The Fire went ahead on a penalty early on after a Tyrone Marshall foul. But our guys came back, with Tyrone Marshall making everything all better by scoring in the 22nd. Then Chris Albright put it away by sending home a left-footed shot in the 66th.

Chris Albright again. This guy fascinates me. After the US-Mexico game I read nothing but criticism of his play. Thing is, though, to me he seems to play very dramatically. Meaning that when something big happens, either good or bad, he often seems to have a hand on it in some way. So he gets noticed, both good and bad. I’m going to be watching him closely this season.

Lots of substitutions again, including our Canadian trialist, Kevin Harmse, and our other Brit, Darren Currie. Two more I’m keeping an eye on.

Schedule Announcements: We’re playing the Houston Dynamo today. You heard it here first.

AND: Galaxy announcement coming Friday!! That’s what the website says! And not just an announcement, a MAJOR announcement!! 10:30 at the Home Depot Center! Be there!!!

Or not, whatever. I’ll tell you about it afterwards.

I’ll bet it’s the new uniforms. What do you think? Is that major enough?

The announcement is going to be that the Galaxy will play a friendly against Chelsea on July 21st. Also that the Galaxy and Chelsea have entered into a partnership agreement, and henceforth, will share marketing and coaching ideas. If you check the Galaxy website it says it will be a joint press conference with Chelsea.

I doubt it is the new uniform. Ben is probably right, maybe the sponsor. But don't know if it would make sense to get a "new" Galaxy jersey that is the same as last years, except with a sponsor on the front, and then 4 months later change the unifrom. Who knows. Hopefully, the sponsor is Citi who was rumored to be willing to pay $50 million for 5 years to be the "shrit sponsor".
