Ireland Tells Us All About the LA Galaxy!

20 Handy Facts About LA Galaxy
Yes, Ireland. Writing an article about the LA Galaxy. You know this was exactly what Alexi and AEG had in mind when they bought Becks. (And we’ll ignore the fact that they misspelled Alexi’s name. Although isn’t it good publicity only if they spell your name right? Whatever. They spelled “Galaxy” correctly. And “Beckham,” of course. So that’s all that really matters.)
What’s really interesting to me is seeing the Irish perspective as to what Irish readers would like to know. Such as:
8. The MLS Cup is effectively the deciding game for the MLS Championship. The League season is about qualifying for the play offs. The Open Cup equates to the FA Cup and involves teams from outside the MLS structure. AND
9. The Galaxy name refers to the ‘galaxy’ of celebrities for which Los Angeles is famed.
AND
18. LA have not made a great start to the 2007 campaign with just one win 8 games. Goals have been very hard to come by- only 8 so far
19. Keeper Joe Cannon has twice won the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award with other clubs. Brad Friedel and Tim Howard are both former winners of this award.
20. No LA player appeared in the MLS Best XI for 2006.
I’m pretty sure they had to throw in tidbits like 18 and 20 to keep all this international fame from going to our guys’ heads.
Guys? Even though you’re going international, stay humble, okay? And be sure to remember the folks who were fans BEFORE the latecoming rest of the world came calling.
