Yeah, a partial allocation seems low. I don’t think a team would be able to get the equivalent of Hercules Gomez and Ugo Ihemelu in todays transfer market for a partial and the original Cannon/DC mega trade had as one of its legs Boswell + a partial allocation which was deemed roughly worth Ruiz to Dallas and Cannon was worth Ruiz to the LA brain trust. So you got what DC was willing to give up for him subtracting the 2006 defender of the year (of course you would have ended up with Ruiz and Dallas and DC would be laughing it up). From the sounds of it LA had been shopping Cannon all off season.

I was a little taken back by only a partial allocation – what is that, like $100,000 maybe? – since two players got traded for Cannon to get to LA in the first place. So LA cleared up, I’m guessing, something like $300,000 with this move. Is that a good thing weighing what it took for him to arrive and how he performed during the season (i.e. he was the only one who seemed to give a sh*t back there for a while)? Oh well.

But yay for the Quakes!

Now my brother’s free Cobi Jones shirt (they were given out at the last Galaxy home game of the season) is even more precious, since two Galaxy players who are no longer on the team signed it (Cobi and Cannon).

That news about Cannon is really sad (he even signed my brother’s Cobi Jones shirt) . I don’t know if we’ll be able to replace him.

Does anyone know what that Greek website says about Mathis? I actually thought he would be a good addition to Galaxy (for the right price).

Does anyone know the deal with Pavon? He was on Galaxy’s waived list, and he’s not on the team roster; but on the Galaxy website one of the photo captions says “Carlos Pavon and the Galaxy are gearing up for 2008.” Do you think this is a mistake?

Also, will Randolph be available while Jazic’s injured? If not, we may have some issues.

i think these are all smart moves clearing room for some good signings (with beckham and gullit, i’m sure they know the right people to make it happen). lets just hope theres no more pavoning going on.

i do wish they would have gotten something significant out of the trade. partial allocation? eh? maybe its something they can manipulate and use for a big signing, hopefully.
