Kelly Gray Talks About Beckham and That Chartered Plane
By: Laurie | August 10th, 2007
Galaxy midfielder Kelly Gray is doing a bi-weekly series of articles for Goal.com. In the current one he talks about the current road trip and the joys of chartered planes.
“Toronto was an amazing trip for us. We met at the Home Depot Center on Friday morning and took a bus to a private terminal at the airport. We were waiting around for our plane to show up and just hanging out playing golf on a private putting green. We waited a little longer than we were hoping to, but when the plane showed up it was totally worth it.
This plane was amazing. We walk in and there was a small bar on the left, some tables on the right and the farther you went back there were couches. Every other seat was like a recliner. It was so comfortable. Since it was just our team on the plane, we could do anything we wanted. We could get up, walk around, lay down on the couches and sleep, play cards or dominos, really anything you could think of. But that was just the beginning …”
(I had read that the Galaxy had gotten permission to use charters due to the hellacious road schedule in the second half of the season, but I never saw details on who pays or how this works. Anybody?)
The rest of the article is on the experience of being Beckham’s teammate. It’s kind of sweet and star-struck, especially the part about the Blue Jays game. What an experience this must be for a twenty-six-year-old. (It also misspells Ty Harden’s last name. But we won’t hold that against him.)
A fun read. Be sure to check it out.
