Landon Won’t Be Going to the Gold Cup
By: jen | May 21st, 2009Paul Oberjuerge, the man who undoubtedly knows more about Landon Donovan than any other, writes that Landon will play in the Confederations Cup, but will remain with the Galaxy during the Gold Cup.
Donovan, the Los Angeles Galaxy’s star forward, will play with the U.S. national team in the Confederations Cup, in South Africa, June 14 through at least June 21.
Donovan will not play for the U.S. in the Gold Cup, July 3 through at least July 11. Donovan didn’t say that, but his Galaxy coach, Bruce Arena, did.
This is good news! Landon will be home in July and will be available to play two to five more games than previously expected, including the AC Milan match.
Oberjuerge also writes that Landon’s wife, Bianca Kajlich, will return for another season of Rules of Engagement and jokes that she is making more money than he is now.
The article is a great read. Oberjuerge always gets the inside scoop on all things Landon Donovan.

Thank goodness. Thanks so much, Bruce for pulling rank and keeping Landon to help out the LA Galaxy in any way he can. And, thank you, Jen – for pointing us to the story. Now, if our team can only start winning games – somehow – even if it’s only 1-0. Besides, Edson Buddle, I don’t see anybody else being able to hold onto the ball at their feet into the 18-yard box… except, maybe, Mike Magee on rare occasions. Jovan Kirovski – I don’t what the deal is with him – I know he’s got got more smarts/skills than that, but – he seems way off-sync. Chris and Eddie – unfortunately, for all us – age is real, and it does catch up and puts it’s teeth into a player’s quickness and speed in the entire length of a game. But, bless the high-heavens for us landing Don Ricketts. Love his confidence and reach/stretch, and positioning!

I agree Charles. And having Landon here when Beckham returns can only be a good thing. I expect those two to connect well again — especially if Buddle can get into the line up.
