Landon’s with the US Nats, Randolph’s with the U-23s

landon.jpgDid I read somewhere that only nine of the U-23 players for the China games got repeat call-ups for the most recent team camp? Don’t quote me, because now I can’t find my source. But it wasn’t a huge number. One of those repeats, though? Our very own Mike Randolph. Woo-hoo!

Seriously, Mike’s out-of-nowhere story makes me go all fuzzy and maternal inside.

Don’t tell anybody.

And here’s a great, fun link to an interview with Mike about being with the U-23s. (Sorry. The code-stingy bastards at MLSnet won’t let us embed their videos.) Mike says the coach razzes him a lot, which is a good sign, right? The only downside of him making the Olympic team would be that he wouldn’t be playing for the Galaxy during that time. This would kind of suck, but we’d survive. Go, Mike!

Also looking quite international is Landon Donovan, the only Galaxy player to get called up for the full US Men’s National Team. If you’re wanting to see how he’s doing, the official USMNT blog is up and running again. Be sure to check it out — I’ve always thought it was a fun site.

(Thanks to reader George for the video link.)

  • Yes, there is a certain irony in a sports team linking with a margarine for publicity.

I wouldn't get margarine anyway. It has trans fat -- not healthy.
  • George
    No, I didn't.
  • I think the real question here is whether George bought the margarine.
  • Hmmm. Maybe he will be back?

    Off Topic:
Today at the supermaket I saw a box of Gold 'N Soft Margarine (the kind they advertise at Galaxy games) with a picture of Abel Xavier on it. I was pleasantly surprised.
