Leiweke Clarifies
By: jen | February 20th, 2009It seems that a lot of the press we’ve been receiving regarding the Becks move is a bit inaccurate. Leiweke gives an informative interview on Soccernet — Milan’s figures have been a joke, Beckham can opt out of his contract at the end of 2009 anyway, and more.

Hey guys,
I know it’s not related to the topic of this post. But, I wanted to let you know the LA Galaxy @ MLSnet site updated the “Technical Staff” section of the official roster. Some of these names I do not recognize. However, I did notice a number of NEW faces next to the players’ bench during Series 1 of the PPC.
Here’s the link:

Has Dunivant been injured, and is that why he didn’t play much for Toronto last season? If so, when is he expected to recover?

I have a bad feeling that Becks will be back, AC’s head guy now said that AC will not be paying more for Becks than what a 8 month loan should cost. Everyone knows that Beckham can leave after this season so…I do not think we will sell him for $3 million. All I can say is I hope he is ready for a good boo session his first game back here.

George: Dunnivant is still recovering from ankle surgery. According to an interview of Bruce Arena just before the PPC Series 1 game, Bruce expects Dunnivant to continue fitness and rehab with the docs & trainers – and, if progressing on target, to have him play in that March 14th pre-season exhibition against Chicago Fire. I hope that this is indeed the case. We could really use his strength and help along the left flanks and in the back.
Robert: I’m assuming you mean “MLS & LA Galaxy” seems like they’re growing a pair… Well, when it comes to the tempation of profit and the threat of monetary loss; I am sure your notions are in the right.
Justin: As of today, I too, am startign to get that eerie feeling that LA Galaxy & MLS are not willing to part ways with their “cash cow/money-maker/broadcast-magahit/jersey-sales tycoon”. And, you are so right – Becks is in for an unpleasant home-coming. But, I’ve seen him prove people wrong before. If he’s ultimately pissed off & very determined to shove it right back… he can… but, fans here are not going to quiet down that easy. This makes me more apprehensive about what happens to the LA Galaxy creativity & offense after June 2009 – because, by then FIFA WCQ games are in full swing… and, European transfer season will once again be on their man-hunts. I fear that around this time, the LA Galaxy might just be stuck with their “pants down” and trying to search around in the fog and the haze for some drawstrings because the belts and buttons have broke loose!Posted from

Yeah I think we will lose Landon in the summer transfer window this season but Mr. Becks is stuck until after the season when he can opt out and go join his beloved AC Milan, but then we will have a DP spot and Landon’s Cash to get some players for next year so… Anyways though I am liking some of the young guys we brought in this year so it is going to be interesting come roster cuts!
