Let’s Check Out The USMNT
By: Laurie | February 2nd, 2007
Since there’s nothing else going on this time of year (aside from that whole Beckham thing, of course,) let’s mosey on over and check out the USMNT (that would be US Men’s National Team for those just learning to love the game) as they prepare for next week’s friendly against Mexico.
Galaxy players called up are Defender Chris Albright, Goalkeeper Joe Cannon, and Forwards Landon Donovan and Nate Jaqua. (And thank heavens for new acquisitions Cannon and Jaqua, or the Galaxy would be a bit underrepresented here. Instead they’re overrepresented, which is a better place to be. Let’s hope this bodes well for the season.)
If you have a few minutes, be sure to stop by the USMNT blog. I can’t seem to find the name of the person who writes it, but it’s interesting and entertaining and well-written.
I’m discovering as I’m teaching myself to love US soccer that there’s at least one advantage to having little money. The US is forced to get creative with the resources and assets they have, which leads to things like the USMNT blog. (My beloved France National Team does not seem to feel any need to give us a blog.) Plus we get some other interesting MLS things, which I’ll write about later.
And the photo is Landon Donovan. Of course.
