So drunken idiot tries to attack Beckham, Beckham gets charged. Sounds like justice.

Well, drunken idiot is also banned for life from the Home Depot Center. So no more X Games for him! Thank God he wasn’t banned from the Home Depot.

Drunken idiot would never have left the stands if Beckham hadn’t taunted him and told him to come down. Beckham is far from innocent in this one, even if he claims to be.

“Drunken idiot would never have left the stands if Beckham hadn’t taunted him and told him to come down. Beckham is far from innocent in this one, even if he claims to be.”
You don’t lose control over all your actions when taunted, he had self control and he lost it. Beckham might not be innocent but he sure isn’t guilty.

The point, to me anyway, is that this is just the tiniest little slap on the wrist to Beckham. I don’t know whether or not he deserves more. Probably not, really. But to think that $1,000 is punitive — THAT’S funny! Imagine if Alan Gordon had done something like that — the equivalent fine for him would be something like $20. That would be laughable. Oooh, Gordo’s so scared and ashamed now that MLS has fined him $20. I mean, c’mon.

I wish he would just go away. We were doing just fine without his Bangers & snash. Piss off back to Milan…this time take the plastic princess and stay there.

It’s not about $1000 or $100k..the most important thing is the message. And very good for MLS for taking this step, as it shown MLS is capable of being on par with any other league, especially the established, successful leagues which will no doubt punish any player who has done the same thing as Becks did. And if you guys care to look for an article on The Times Online (UK), it is reported that Beckham has PRIVATELY asking the HDC to lift the lifetime ban of the said fan. So what would you guys say now?
“…Even the hardest hearts remain open, perhaps, and Beckham, fined $1,000 for the confrontation, privately asked the Home Depot Center to revoke a life ban imposed on a fan who clambered from the stand to abuse him face to face. “It’s not about whether I can move on, I wasn’t the one booing,” Beckham said…”

I think it’s admirable that he is asking for the ban to be lifted. I think that a lifetime ban is a bit too harsh.
And yes, I agree that the message is important.
I think that EVERYBODY has gotten the message now. Becks, drunken idiot fan, the media (who won’t let the damn thing die). So let Becks pay his $1,000, ban the fan for the rest of the season (or less), and let’s get on with it.
