Nate Jaqua Heads Out the Door?

By: Laurie | July 3rd, 2007

This one’s not a huge surprise either, is it? Did anybody really expect Nate Jaqua to last out the season with LA? Especially now that we’ve brought in Edson Buddle and Carlos Pavon, and Alan Gordon’s foot seems to be better at last. Even after Nate finally got that goal against RSL, he’s still kind of been the scapegoat for a lot that’s gone wrong this year, so it’s probably best for everybody that he head out the door.

See ya, Nate. Sorry it didn’t work out. Good luck in Houston!

The Houston Chronicle (via MLSZone) is reporting that Nate Jaqua is on his way to Houston, in exchange for “back-up defender Kelly Gray and a 2nd-round pick in 2008.”

Since we don’t need more forwards (I’d settle for seeing the ones we have actually produce) and our back line is hurting, this could be one of those right move, right time things.

If this is the end of the trades, I’ll be okay with it. But let’s now give everybody a chance to settle down and settle in. Okay, Frank? Are you listening, Alexi?

We’re done with trades now. Right?

Okey-dokey, that should about do it, right? Still not a fan of Sturgis-Findley for Klein, which really just stripped the cupboard bare, IMHO, but this could be good. Dealing Jaqua, who I was never impressed with, even after his “stellar” year in Chicago, and has the first touch of a child molester is a good thing, esp. with his salary.

Kelly Gray is totally solid and doesn’t start because he plays for Houston, which currently has the best defense in the league. This move should get Pool Boy back into the middle where he belongs.

Backline should look like this: Jazic – Harden – Xavier – Gray

    Officially Not Horrible.

Now if only Pavon and Donovan can score…
