No, Thank YOU!

What a game! Except for the nail-biting after going down 2 goals to none in the first half, that was an incredible match! I printed my number 9 (and mounted it on poster board because I’m ~~anal~~ crafty like that) and held it up with the crowd. The stadium went absolutely berserk when we scored in the 95th minute, especially since we couldn’t see the extra time remaining. Nice clutch play guys!

Pretty much every player on the pitch had an awful missed chance on goal. Jozy’s miss was the worst — ugh! — but he could have played worse overall. Costa Rica was just jamming their numbers into the box and final third so we had to keep crossing, crossing, crossing, and looking for openings.

I have to give a shout out to the parking dude who waved me to the side and told me to cut through the parking lot to get out of the stadium sooner. He easily cut 30 minutes of waiting in line off of our drive home. Boo to the Costa Rica fans behind me who were slinging all sorts of choice female anatomy words in Spanish during the game. I know that’s par for the course at times, but don’t assume the people around you don’t understand you. Kudos to the 10 year-old boys in front of me who kept a steady supply of balloons lofting through the crowd. Two rows in front of them were some flag wearing fanatic men who would see the balloon come down, get all child-like and excited, queue up the balloon onto their bangers, and then smash it further on into the crowd. And many thanks to my friends Jacob and Lindsay for sharing the awesome night with me and keeping me awake on the drive home.

There’s so much more to say, but I’m a bit tired from a late night (3 hours to drive home — thank you to the powers who decided to close all but one lane of the 66). Did you see the match? Were you there? Share the joy with me in the comments!
