Laurie, I’m guessing you weren’t watching the epl nearly a decade ago when robbie was absolutely SHRedding the league. past his prime, he’s still way beyond most of the mls. honestly i didn’t think a guy like fowler would ever play over here, even closer to the end of his career. major leage soccer is barely a shadow of the epl and you could only be so lucky to have the legend. and good job cut-and-pasting from wikipedia. seriously?

The good news is that Fowler has matured quite a bit since snorting the penalty line in 1999. The bad news is that those eight years have also slowed him down to a crawl on the pitch (God’s ONLY flaw) although he still managed 7 goals in 10 starts for LFC this season. The excellent news being is that he’s a perfect poacher, as well as a lesson in unshakeable poise on the ball, in traffic, any game, during an earthquake…nice model for a young league and a team that seems a tad nervous in the box.

But, I agree with Brian, seems a long shot, doesn’t need the money, but does love to play. Where he ends up probably depends on where he thinks he’d have most fun doing that…

Brian – I guess you’ve never watched Cuauhtemoc Blanco play. Fowler’s one of the best natural finishers in the game, but he can’t touch Blanco for all-around flair.

I would be shocked if he came to the MLS and even more shocked if it was the Galaxy. The only team I can see him playing for is the Revolution and only for Steve Nicol.

Robbie is a very, very rich man and not because of football, but because of his horse racing stable and real estate. So he doesn’t need the money and let’s face it, he’s not very marketable in the US since he’s not world famous and isn’t exactly the best looking guy on the block, which apparently matters more than actual ability.

If he did come to the MLS, he’d be the most naturally gifted footballer in the league by about a mile after Angel, then Beckham, and then about a mile more better than anyone else. The problem is I don’t see him getting very motivated to play here since there’s very little incentive for him to do so. MLS glory is like winning the Intertoto Cup.
