Our Friday Galaxy Limerick of the Day
By: Laurie | June 22nd, 2007By request, I’ve decided to make Friday the day for my new weekly feature, the Galaxy Limerick of the Day. (Hey, it worked last week, right? Made ‘em win? Well, okay, the limerick and the two haikus. Do you think I should sandwich the limerick between the haikus again? Is that what did it? Should I scientifically test the order combinations of my poetry to see which one is most likely to bring on the win?)
Yeesh, I can see why Landon and Becks & Co. get these obsessive-compulsive things stuck in their brains.
But anyhoo. Chris doesn’t think that most people got the sly reference to Nantucket in my last limerick post, so I’ll explain it to you as Wikipedia explained it to me. (This explanation has, sadly, been deleted from the Wiki entry. You have no idea how much this breaks my heart. Almost enough to make me to go and add it back in. Almost.) You see, it seems the reason Nantucket is a frequent setting for limericks is that it was a whaling town, and limericks were popular with whalers.
Yeah, I’m quite certain that’s the reason.
Okay. Now that I have given you your history lesson, it’s time for our limerick. Behold, I give you the limerick dedicated to:
Writing on the Galaxy
Alexi, please give me more time!
Your moves start and stop on a dime!
The faces are changin’,
Roster’s rearrangin’
How the hell can I make this all rhyme?!?
