Pre-Weekend Tidbits
By: jen | May 22nd, 2008
Just a few things of note to tide you over until the weekend match against Kansas City.
So unless you’ve been meditating in a soccerless vacuum, realizing that there’s more to life than six pack abs, you likely already know the following:
* When Chris Klein starts this weekends game against K.C., he will break the MLS record for most consecutive starts at 94. The former record holder is our former keeper, Kevin Hartman. As long as he remains healthy, he will continue to expand his record. Congrats Chris!
* Landon Donovan will be getting his 100th cap when the U.S. plays England in a friendly at Wembley Stadium this Wednesday. He will become the fourth youngest player to receive his 100th cap, usurping Cobi Jones spot in the record books.
* Landon has played on left in several U.S. lineups, so what are the chances that he and Beckham will be marking each other in Wednesday’s friendly? It will be an entertaining game nonetheless.
* The US U-23s lost yesterday in their Toulon Tournament opener against Turkey. Galaxy defender Julian Valentin played the entire match.
On a personal note, I have been sick this week with something flu-like, if not the real thing (darn Kindergarten kid o’ mine). So I am slowly playing catch up both here and in my real life. I should be back tomorrow with at least some links to game previews for Saturday’s match.
Oh, and I’m actively looking for pictures for Caption This Photo, so if you have any tips please send them along.

Now that Carlos Bocanegra has been released from Fulham. Maybe we can get him and dump Abel?

Brilliant idea Dave…how do we brainwash Lalas into doing that???

We could offer him a role where he can talk endlessly and say nothing. Never mind already taken this campaign season.

Exactly. Screw the ongoing rumors of trying to acquire Henry, let’s get Boca!! What a coup that would be!

I would love to see local boy Bocanegra back in SoCal, but it appears like he might sign with PSV Eindhoven or Osasuna. However, Fulham also released Simon Elliott, who I think would be a quality veteran pick up…
