RSL 4 – 1 LAG

By: DAS | March 26th, 2011

I know this was an away game, but I still feel like Galaxy fans should get a refund. I managed to pull the game up on my iPad and watch it live. If you are waiting for the 10:30 tape delay, don’t bother.

By the time the game actually loaded on my iPad LA was down 1-0. Within a few minutes Saunders had a clear foul in the box for a PK that made it 2. And by the half it was 3. As Harkes said in the commentary, sometimes you just put it down to a bad day and you don’ even go back and watch the tape.

Just a few points worth thinking about. JPA got his first goal, proving that he can do what we brought him here for. Barrett came off in the second half with Miguel Lopez in his place. In my view, Barrett might as well stay on the bench, along with Magee. I didn’t see enough of Lopez to know if he’s going to be a real attacking threat, but at least he seemed more inspired. Not quite sure why Beckham came off in the last few minutes, but at least it meant the Running Man (Bryan Jordan) saw some time on the field. Also noticed that when Becks came off he gave JPA the arm band. I know he’s a DP, but shouldn’t it really go to someone who has played more than two games with the team?

Not a good night. Not worth dwelling on. At least the USMNT had a good showing.

Hay DAS...Start watching these guys! Lopez and Cardozo are solid players that need more playing time! Also, if Leonardo is going to be that bad, bring in Frankie Hejduk. This ex-captain can provide some stability and also serve as an attacking spark. Franklin can move inside, he won ROTY there!

I have mixed feelings about Leonardo. He has had good and bad moments that I've seen. But I am a little surprised that the Bruce has not even tried to bring in Frankie to mix things up. Certainly couldn't have hurt against RSL. But really the solution is to get back OG. Question is, when he is back do you take out AJDLG or Leonardo?

And after last week's performance, I am all for more of Lopez and Cardozo. As noted from my hookers and blow post, I was surprised Magee got a starting role. I've never been particularly impressed with his talent and feel like taking a risk on Lopez is a better option from the get go. And with Chad living up to Nathan's Barnmisser moniker, I figure might as well start Lopez with Angel.

But the Bruce isn't likely to follow my advice I'm afraid.

  • Take that LA! GO REAL SALT LAKE! Haha. The only bad thing about that game was that Rimando ended his no goals allowed at home streak which started the first game of last season. Nick is my homeboy!
