RSL vs. Galaxy: The Battle for the Cellar, Part 2 (Or: Yes, We Officially Suck)
By: Laurie | September 1st, 2007First thing: To everybody who gave me a caption for my Caption This Photo? Well done. You guys are hysterical and literally made me laugh out loud. And if you haven’t checked it out (and have a tolerance for PG-13 humor) be sure to click on the link. I’ll be doing this again, just to allow you to entertain me once more during this bleak season.
But now on to more serious subjects. We are now completely, totally in the cellar of MLS. RSL passed us by last week when they were winning a league game as we were barely getting beaten in SuperLiga. And now they have cemented their spot above us by beating us. Ouch. We officially suck.
(Confession here. I have had an incredibly busy week and thought the RSL game was tomorrow. Imagine my shock when I realized it had bypassed me by occurring today. Oops. The good news is that is was one of those freakin’ HDNet games that virtually nobody has access to, so I couldn’t have watched it anyway.)
It sounds like the Galaxy didn’t start too badly. Alan Gordon scored in the sixth minute, and then the Galaxy held onto the lead for an hour. And we had sixteen (16!!) shots.
And then things went to hell. (And isn’t that the story of our season?) Robbie Findley (wow, isn’t he good? where in the world did they get him?) scored in the 67th, then Eddie Pope scored in the 71st. Add to that a Troy Roberts ejection for a second yellow in the 77th, and…
Well, it’s just pretty freakin’ typical for league play this year, isn’t it?
I’m finding myself wishing for a 2007 season Fast-Forward button.

I listened to the game on the radio:1700 AM, Joe Totino. ( Why is it on a station that barely comes in in LA?) Joe seemed to put alot of blame on Edson Buddle, not making runs … and Landon missed another PK! I think he needs to stop his kissing ritual, it obviously isn’t working!
The Galalxy had 2 shots that hit the cross bar. It’s like a curse! I feel bad for Cobi Jones. I am sure he did not expect to be in last place in his last season of MLS.Posted from
