That was a very satisfying win over FC Dallas, wasn’t it? It had a little of everything in it: good scoring chances, good scoring, good ball movement, controversial fouls, a few yellow cards, some pushy-shovey, and a red card.

*A hat trick for Buddle. Nice dribbling and possession on the first goal, with a diagonal run by Donovan drawing the defense away long enough to get a well placed shot into the left side of the goal. For the second goal Buddle converted a tip back from Pires in front of the goal. And the third was a timely header off a perfectly weighted pass from Beckham.

Here’s the third goal:

*Um, defense? By no means perfect, but here ya go:

I’m liking how the team is coming together under Ruud. You know all those mid-salary players we’ve been needing? Well, it looks like they are going to be home-grown by Gullit. It’s much better that way, in my opinion, because they already know the system so well.

So, I’m having some fun with this post, but you guys go ahead and share your comments on the game. I’m looking forward to the discussion.

I'll always hope for Henry to do well also, wherever he is, as long as he's not facing my team! (Or being better than Fernando Torres against Spain :) ).

Ulrich Rame. It seemed like a strange idea because of his age, but its hard for young keepers to be second choice, especially after someone like Reina. We can't say that Itandje didn't do well because he only had one(?) game -- sounds like he would be part of the trade. Rame sounds great (scouting report welcome), and has already made his name so going out at LFC might not be as frustrating even if he doesn't get much time.

Don't know if we can say the same for Wicks. Making that change must be one of the toughest coaching choices.
  • Diane, what's funny is that I'm not a Liverpool fan because my French boys tend not to do well there. But I heard recently that they were thinking about buying somebody who might have the ability to change my mind. But now I can't remember who it was. A France NT player. Jog my memory.

And I'm crossing my fingers for Henry. He had a miserable season, then suddenly scored five goals in four games at the end. So maybe he's coming back into form at the right time? Crossing fingers.

thanks Diane! found it too! it's the English version with similar title as the Spanish one. but this one is better coz they actually focus on Serioux's mouthing words to Becks. but yeah..although i'm still amaze..i looove the bye-bye n the blowing kiss! and the booing fans..they just add some lives to this growing league, and that's good!
and yep..it reminds me of Zidane too. hehe..;)
    cheers!

probably about the last second. Saw it with the sound off so apologies if the audio contains anything beyond offside (is that possible here?).

HAVE to return to proofreading before posting...meant to say that my support hasn't swayed EVERY result...
  • Diane
Phew, all this talk about kisses and no Zizous, didn't want you to come home all mad. BTW, now that England is out of Euro, I am available to be courted by other countries.

Spain has so many of my boys from both LFC and Barcelona and even a few from those years when we had no choice but to watch Real Madrid as well. France has a good argument for my attention, though, if just to see if Henry becomes himself again when playing his actual position. My fandom hasn't swayed result, but I've had my day and can probably be bought pretty cheap on this one.
  • Diane, I believe that goes without saying. ;-)
  • Diane
Keep us posted Box! A little more theatre did develop in Spain where the first usage of fluent Spanish drew a red card -- blame best friend Roberto Carlos who believed that creative swearing was the first key to language development ;-) , will always miss those two playing together... cute as it gets as well as brilliant. OK LAURIE -- of course Zidane too!
  • Box
yes Diane..i still couldn't find the kiss blowing highlights anywhere..not even a PICTURE! i thought there were so many photographers there..right? yet, no single pic of Becks' blowing kisses! i'm going to look for it in youtube..meybe there are some fans who captured and taped the scene. ;D

oh..and yes..as a long time ManU and Beckham fan..i have to admit that i've never seen him react the way he did against Serioux (the kisses and the waves). for all this time, Becks has been such a NICE guy on and off the pitch. and i found his reaction a bit "naughty". hehehe. it must be a little bit personal for Becks - the tackle n the "welcoming" words. cheers! ;)

Justin - In the 53rd minute, Gullit took Pires off and put in Roberts. I think when he did that he shifted Klein up to midfield on the left side and made Franklin or Roberts right back. It really freed up Klein to bring some added pressure. I guess it's a formation change they are experimenting with.

Looking at the recap, I also noted that Ruiz was on the bench. Though they didn't use him, he must be getting close now.
  • Diane
Hmmm, was that clear enough? If not: homophobic epithets hurled from stands, player hurls back kiss, rabble roused to further fury (that could have been my Mirror headline!). One more item added to list of what polarizes UK on all things Becks. Gay and decent fans everywhere (and cameraman who caught shot) happy.
  • Diane
Box, NO KISS BLOWING? What kind of highlights are these!?! Apart from being nice and cheeky, that view is fun for old ManU fans (at least non-homophobic fans) who remember it as Becks' response to those in the stands who questioned his preferences. Didn't even see what channel the highlights I caught were on as I was rushing -- possibly an ESPN wrap-up, it was short.

i am season ticket holder for FC Dallas and love em to death. The red card was more than warranted and Becks' reaction was actually refreshing! What if that ruiz, or rocha, or c. ronaldo? would they have gotten right up and in Serioux's face? NO! they would have rolled around on the ground like their leg was cut off and take up 5 minutes to milk it. Instead, Becks did what we applaud in our american sports (football, hockey, baseball, basketball). He said in actions, "you can take a cheap shot on me and im going to bounce right up and not back down!" In other sports, players that take a hard knock go out of their way to show they are ok and cant be hurt. in soccer, and it pains me to say bc its my love, players do whatever they can to show how weak and fragile they are. makes me sad.

I applaud it and wish OUR team would show that much resilience.

I think both Ruud and Beckham are making a difference with their teaching/mentoring. Ruud clearly has a presence about him that immediately forces the team to listen to what he's offering. DB brings that on field leadership that only a former England captain could bring. They are young, but I believe this squad will do good things with these two guiding them.
  • Box
i watched the highlights but still didn't see the kisses. just the wave. ;( so sad..lol! ;p
  • jen
Justin, that was an interesting line up. It sure worked. MacDonald was able to help create more offense. Klein had the option to run upfield while still having good coverage in the back. Really, there are only 4 offense-minded players in that lineup. And it worked just fine. I hope we'll see that again this coming week.
  • Diane
Traveling and only have minute but just saw highlights on TV, of what, Becks' spat. But what fun, loved the bye-bye wave and kisses.

I'm going to post more soon, but for more highlights go here and click on "watch" under the highlights column.

Mag, on that picture, that's Josh Wicks, the backup goalkeeper. I guess were you at the airport? good pic.
  • Nicole
That was awesome! Texas Chainsaw Massacre by the Galaxy! We ran through them like a buzz saw!

I love it when our guys show attitude - Becks waiving bye-bye and then shushing the crowd (I love how the crowd booed him every time he got near the ball - hello, crowd, it was YOUR player that took the cheap shot and fortunately he paid for it) Whoever said it earlier - the only thing missing was Donovan's throat slash.

The key to the game was our midfield dominated. I don't think Dallas had a midfield.
  • Box
thanks Justin. i hope there's a video about those incident..especially Becks' reaction, coz i think i've never seen Becks blowing kisses to anybody except the fans! hahaha..i'm sure it's funny.
  • Justin
Becks is fine, it was a stupid tackle and then "the player" got up and said "welcome baby, welcome" what a dumb ass. lol what Becks did though was funny stuff the waving, the kiss, and then the shhh to the crowd. It was great!
  • Box
can anyone please tell me what happened exactly of the "tackling and shoving" seen with Becks and the FCD players? is Becks injured now?

    thanks.
  • Justin
David - Klein still played in the back line he just had more space to get up the field today. If we keep possession this good in our other games we will have scores like this more often. The Galaxy blog listed the lineup like this...

    --------------Donovan-----Buddle----------------

    -----------------------------------------Beckham

    -------------Franchino-----McDonald-------------

    -----------------------Pires-----------------------

    Vanney------Franklin---------Xavier-------Klein

    ------------------------Cronin---------------------

It all worked today and Pires in huge for us in the midfield.
  • David
Saw most of it. Good game for us. Moving Klein up to midfield was interesting. Maybe they should do that more and use Pires less. The back line is still shaky. Franklin had a few bad plays that should have resulted in goals for Dallas. We got lucky. But the offense was cracking!

This was a great motivational shot of "Vita-Veta-Vegimen" in the arms and legs of our LA Galaxy. A Job well done by our men! Bravo! Today, they kept much more control & steadiness of their posession and passing. FInally, it was good to see confident soccer by our guys. And, not to mention a much needed road-win, as well. I'm glad that they played SMART, COLLECTED, UNSELFISH soccer today at Dallas. It made all the difference. Finally, Edson shows us that he's got the goods! So, MLSnet commentary reporters were saying that Alan Gordon did not make it due to a "hamstring" strain? Is that code for "He needs some time off"? I, too, am liking the productivity from our LA Galaxy team under Head Coach Ruud. So, the next game is a home game (@ the HDC) against KC Wizards. Let's hope we get to witness some more of this calm, collected, unselfish fluid soccer. That tackle from Adrian Serioux was so out of frustration and bad, sleazy sportmanship. I, too, hope that he's made to sit out the next three games. So far, we need to see how our LA Galaxy team will stack up against Columbus Crew & Colorado Rapids. I'm hoping that Coach Cobi is filling Head Coach Ruud in on what to expect as this season continues further into a more trying / grueling schedule.

great time in dallas. I was the only galaxy fan in a sea of red and white. the slide on david's ankle was really out of hand. props for the team doing well on the road against a tough crowd.
  • jonelle
ok guys...just got done blogging on my own personal blog. posted a few pictures from the game if anyone wants to peek: http://jonelled.blogspot.com
  • Jess
The best goal was Klien's. Not because of the finish but because of MacDonald's badass through ball. Holy smokes! That was a great ball from the rookie!
  • jonelle
oh yeah...i forgot about david shushing the inferno @ the end! they were not happy, but i was. :) was *totally* thinking of LD's "it's over!" throat slashing! looking forward to when the galaxy comes back in july. midfield, 2nd row, baybee!
  • Glen
With Donovan being covered so much more, now it frees up other players to have some room and take some strikes on goal and were seeing the rewards with Buddle, Gordo etc. When Ruiz comes back our offense is looking really good!
  • Glen
That was a great win and being on the road against Dallas made it even better! Buddle with a hat trick, Klien and Donovan each putting one away, awesome. Watching Beckham wave buh-bye to Serioux (A-Hole) was a nice touch, oh can't forget him hushing the crowd as well. All I needed was Donovan doing his infamous cut throat again. Looked like a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed their runs down the sides and some nice passing, getting bette- thanks Rudd. Cronin still makes me nervous. 1st half he made some great saves but in the second half he just seems to hesitate coming out at times, plus I want him to become more vocal to his defense line. Fun game :p
