Season Opener: Galaxy vs. Dynamo

By: Laurie | April 6th, 2007

And so it begins. LA Galaxy vs. Houston Dynamo, 4:00 in Houston on April 8, that great traditional hard-partyin’ holiday, Easter Sunday.

Okay, I know you probably wouldn’t expect a person who writes random marijuana humor and posts the occasional nude photo to be bothered by an Easter start date, but… Well, we’re all a product of our upbringings, aren’t we? I shall think about the Gals as I myself, y’know, attend church and feed the homeless.

But anyhow. What to expect from the game? Houston were last year’s champs, so this will be a good test of all of the changes the Galaxy made in the off-season. And keep in mind that we did beat the Dynamo solidly in the preseason.

Well, okay, actually we beat them 1-0. Which is…solid. Right?

Injury report for the game:
HOUSTON DYNAMO - OUT: MF Ricardo Clark (R knee LCL sprain); QUESTIONABLE: MF Corey Ashe (L knee strain) …

LOS ANGELES GALAXY – OUT: FW Alan Gordon (L foot stress fracture); MF Peter Vagenas (neck); QUESTIONABLE: FW Gavin Glinton (L groin strain)

Pete Vagenas must be a new one — that injury I hadn’t heard of yet. And why does it make me even MORE uncomfortable to read that Gavin Glinton’s groin strain is on the left side? Some details I just don’t want to know, okay?

Oh, I also finally found the Galaxy lineup for our Defeat of Victory last Friday. (And typing that still makes me smile.) So, in case there are clues to be mined here for Sunday’s starting lineup, here you go: Joe Cannon, Chris Albright, Kyle Veris (Shavar Thomas 46), Ty Harden, Ante Jazic, Kevin Harmse, Nathan Sturgis (Josh Tudela 65), Kyle Martino (Mike Randolph 65), Cobi Jones (Ian Russell 46), Santino Quaranta (Gavin Glinton 46), Robbie Findley.

And where the heck is Kevin Harmse? No word on him whatsoever that I can find. Please, please tell me I’m not going to see his little head in the dirt.

But at any rate. Go Galaxy!

TV Info: 6 p.m. CT (Telefutura; FSN-W; Ch. 55 [HOU])
