Send Our Galaxy Guys to the All-Star Game!

By: Laurie | May 16th, 2007

Now’s our chance, folks. Our chance to make up for the fact that we (or actually, technically, not to point fingers or anything, but you, because I voted a bunch) didn’t give the Sierra Mist Goal of the Week Award to either Cobi Jones OR Kyle Martino. Even though you KNOW they completely deserved it.

But it’s not too late to make up for it. Vote for our Galaxy guys for the All-Star game. And you need to vote early and often, or else the team will look a lot like Toronto FC. (As my brother-in-blog Ian says, Canadians are like old people. They vote. So we need to make up for that.)

You have to register to make your votes count. By name and valid e-mail address. Maximum of ten ballots per person per day. So be sure that your wife, husband, brother, sister, and all of your kids vote too. And I’m sure your third cousins twice removed won’t mind being roped into this as well.

All-Star Ballot

Remember to do your homework before you go in. And they’ve apparently decided on 3-5-2, (?!?) which also complicates things a little bit.

Fans can vote for the All-Star First XI online at www.mlsnet.com by selecting up to one goalkeeper, three defenders, five midfielders, and two forwards. Fans can vote up to 10 times per day. The online fan balloting program, which concludes on Monday, June 25, will comprise 25 percent of the total vote for the All-Star First XI, with coaches and general managers, players and media each holding 25 percent of the vote to combine for the remaining 75 percent.

And Landon’s listed as a forward, so be sure to look for him there and not mixed in with the midfielders.

Now go and vote!

Maybe we shouldn't vote for them. They have too many important games around that time to waist time on the All-Star game that is meaningless. They need as much rest as possible.
  • I voted four or five times, and there were several Galaxy players who got all four or five votes, but not all of the Gal-guys. Of course I had to give my French guy, Laurent Merlin, one vote, just because he's French. And then I canceled that out by giving Robbie Findley one vote. And then I voted for Dema because Martha's so crazy about him, and then... Well, you get the picture.

As much as it might slightly blow my fanboy cred, there's no way I would ever vote for all eleven from one team. But I'm actually voting for the players I think deserve it, not who wears the right colors. PS - each of your teams got one vote from me.
  • Freakin' Canadians.

Sorry Laurie, I voted for eleven guys from one team, but it wasn't LA. Try and guess who it was! I'll give you a hint: they rocked Houston.

The 3-5-2 is ridiculous. Once again, trying to encourage a high-scoring All-Star Game, the MLS has tried to adopt all the worst habits of other American sports by weakening the defense. That should work great against Celtic, who were one brilliant Kaka goal away from taking AC Milan to penalties in the Champions League, and who beat Man United in that same tournament. But yeah, that'll work awesome. Gordon Strachan will rip a 3-5-2 apart.
