So Fill Me in on all the Galaxy News!

Huge thanks to Jen for all her hard work in keeping this blog going in my absence! Our Euro coverage is winding down — the semifinal today, the final this weekend, and then life returns to normal. I think I’ve counted 25 complete games that I’ve watched in the month of June. Great fun, yet I am suffering from a serious case of SIFF.*

But I feel so out of touch with what’s going on in Galaxy-land. I’ve only caught half of one recent game — the first half against the Crew. I left the boys with a comfortable 1-goal lead at the half, and when I came back in the 89th minute, I’d missed five goals! FIVE!!! What. The. Hell?!?! I just can’t leave these boys alone for a minute, can I? (As my co-editor Ian said, being a fan of the team with the best offense and the worst defense in the league really makes life interesting, doesn’t it?)

I haven’t been able to do much Galaxy research, aside from the occasional headline or blog post. But…Edson Buddle scored a hat trick? Seriously? I mean, sure, it was against San Jose. But Edson Buddle, our Edson Buddle, has suddenly turned into a goal-scoring machine? Well, we always knew he had it in him, didn’t we? Never doubted you for a sec, Edson!

Ahem. Moving on.

So if Edson and Landon are scoring like crazy, what does this mean for El Pescadito? Has he even played much? Is there a spot for Ruiz on this team at this salary? And what are we doing about these defensive holes? And what about our goalkeeping issues? And is our midfield the dream team I pictured last year, or does it still need some work?

DC weather is distracting me from tomorrow's EURO final. I can't help it, sports shouldn't be played at noon in 90 degrees in a swamp--not JFK, the whole city. Which even the federal government frequently considered moving pre-a/c!!! I'm worrying about a) the boys expiring, or at least, b) a grueling game for both players and onlookers.

Dumb, and that's the "national showcase" game? Dumber. At least there will be thunderstorms...which don't cool things off in DC but might help if they pass over during the match. Poor boys...

Just noted that they also say Galaxy have signed Honduran defender Osman Chavez.

According to MLS Rumors, the Galaxy have already signed Argentine defender Eduardo Dominguez to shore up the back line (http://www.mls-rumors.net/). True? I don't know. But they give it a likely rating.

I think keep Ruiz. Donovan will have cup qualifying. We need the depth. He is a grandfathered DP, so even if we trade him that doesn't get us another DP. Besides, he is just back from injury and not yet in form. I remember what he was like before: an astounding striking threat. If he can reclaim that form we have amazing options up front.

Wow a couple of weeks ago everyone was shooting down the idea of selling Ruiz but him not on form and other players who are (Buddle) if we did sell him who could we bring in and really make a push for the league? or should we keep him?

Well Laurie, our team leads the league in goals scored and the two top goal scorers belong to us. Good stuff, Right? NO! We also lead the league in goals against! We won't win the league with that record. We desperately need some new players in the defense and an experienced GK. Any ideas? Ruiz, Abel, & Pete can go…

I miss the old team from like 5 years ago. They should of never gotten rid of Kevin Hartman. And then recently getting rid of Chris Albright was a mistake also. I miss Cobi and Sasha and Simon and Ezra also.
