The Post in Which I Fawn Obsequiously Over The NE Revolution
By: Laurie | February 22nd, 2007Galaxy lost to the Revolution today. Which means I lost the freakin’ bet with NE Revolution Offside bloggers Jeff and Sabin, so I must now dedicate this post to how incredible their team is.
This sucks. Whose idea was this stupid bet anyhow?
But at any rate. The Galaxy lost 3-1. You know it’s going to be a bad day when you tune into the broadcast in the 29th minute and your team is already down 2-0. And I think the broadcast made it sound even worse than it was, because it was done by the Revolution. (Because they didn’t just spend all their money on Beckham, so they can afford things like broadcasts. And decent websites that give you, like, information. But I digress.) So the broadcaster was just a touch biased, but the score doesn’t lie. As I said, 3-1.
Actually, the Galaxy scored two goals! Unfortunately, one of them was at the wrong end of the field. Ouch. I’m not even going to tell you who did it, because you know he feels bad enough as it is. I hate own goals. They cause me intense pain in my maternal area.
The real goal was by Chris Albright, headed in off a free kick by Landon Donovan. (And has it occurred to anybody else how much duplication of skills we’ll have when Beckham arrives?) And particularly in the second half it didn’t sound as if we did horribly. A lot of chances, but only one made it to the back of the net.
But anyhoo. Here we go, Jeff and Sabin: We, the Galaxy, were outplayed, outclassed, outgunned. We didn’t just lose, we lost painfully. We need Beckham bad!!
So why am I really looking forward to the rest of the year?
Go Galaxy!
*****UPDATE****
The Galaxy website has posted a summary of the game including rosters. They’re getting better, folks! Either they’re reading this blog or others have complained. (But of course they’re reading this blog! Everybody who’s anybody is reading this blog, right?)
The saddest part is, it looks like they played most of the game with a lot of the big guns and they still lost 3-1. Beckham! We need you!!

Connor, they’re not showing up yet but I’m keeping an eye out. The Revolution broadcast (audio only) said to expect them on their site early next week, so I’ll watch both places.

Thanks Laurie! (Btw it was a joke because of the poor Galaxy site, but I would love to see them if you get a hold of them)

What would really upset me if I were a Galaxy fan though, Laurie, is that we were up 2 - 0 with a trialist on the field. I’m just kidding. From the write-up on http://www.revolutionsoccer.net it sounds as though you came out at the half ready to make a difference and it took us some time to adjust. Sounds like it was a great game.

Happy as I am we won, the thing that killed me was the, oh, hour or so I spent right around 3:30 yesterday writing up a preview post. It wasn’t till I tried to add a link to the Revs’ official site that I figured out I had the wrong day and was toiling away on a preview for a game already in progress. The only thing worse was trying - and failing - to make my MAC (2nd computer; the evil twin) work with the Revs site.
So…our guys won, huh? I’ll try to catch up today, but any project I undertake will have to wait till I find my head, which seems to be stuck somewhere around my duodenum.

Connor. Oh! You make humor! Hahahahahahahahahaha!:-)
Keep in mind that I am from Seattle. The day gets older, the caffeine wears off, my snyaptic impulses slow… From this point on, any jokes after 9:00 p.m. are STRICTLY forbidden. (Or else require explanation.)
