Justin, first I agree — not as much about the shadiness as about the entire deal, but as I read through your comment I also enjoyed thinking about the number of lawyers, agents, publicists and news outlets that would have lost a fortune if things were done so simply.

Not to single out Milan most European clubs depend on transfer/loan/trade rumors for way more coverage than post-match press conferences. I can’t say either MLS or Galaxy are much more transparent in certain areas, but at least during the last couple of months Milan tortured this one down to the wire. (Plus, an unsatisfying deal was then had by all!).

I understand why he wants to stay there for their season and I am sure everyone else understands that also, and that is not why I will boo his ass at the first home game. The reason is how he did this, he was shady with the whole deal. If he would have come out and said listen Galaxy and the fans I need to go and play in Europe until after the World Cup, then I will be all yours no more friendlies, only the Galaxy. I can say most of us would have been ok with that, loaned him out for the two seasons to AC Milan and used his DP spot on someone else. By time he would come back the rules could be different with the salary cap. He just doesn’t need to try and pull the wool over our eyes.

Just putting Klein in right mid and backing him with Franklin is a major improvement. Putting Kovalenko in the middle will hopefully help too. I’m very curious to see how Gonzalez and Ricketts do. I think those two could make a huge difference.

Nathan, the 4-4-2 lineup you put forward makes the most sense to me.
