Vote for the Best Galaxy Moment of 2007
By: Laurie | December 27th, 2007Right now you can go over to the LA Sports Council site and vote for your favorite Galaxy moment of 2007. When you visit the site and register, you’ll be given LA team options. When you click on the Galaxy, you’ll get these choices:
1. David Beckham’s Introduction And First Game
All the buzz this year surrounded the Galaxy and David Beckham, and on July 13 the Galaxy finally introduced their newest midfielder to a raucous crowd at The Home Depot Center that included more than 750 media members. A week later Beckham donned his new jersey for the first time, entering in the second half of the Galaxy’s international friendly against Chelsea FC in front of a capacity home crowd of 27,000 (July 21).
2. Galaxy Reach Inaugural Superliga Final
The Galaxy faced D.C. United in the semifinals of the inaugural SuperLiga tournament with David Beckham providing the moment that fans had longed to see as he whipped a free kick over the wall and past United ‘keeper Troy Perkins, giving LA a 1-0 advantage and a spot in the Final at Home Depot Center. There LA met Pachuca, who took a 1-0 lead early and maintained that lead until almost the game’s final whistle, but with their final offensive surge of regulation the Galaxy claimed an equalizer and sent the match to extra time on Chris Klein’s bicycle kick, a moment selected as that night’s Top Play on SportsCenter (August 29).
3. Galaxy Legend Cobi Jones Retires
Cobi Jones announced his retirement from professional soccer after 12 years with the team, making his final MLS appearance at Toyota Park in Chicago. Cobi made his final season a year to remember by tallying four goals and five assists and being named one of new coach Ruud Gullit’s assistant coaches for next season, ensuring that Cobi’s legacy with the club will continue long into the future (October 21).
It was tough, but in the end I picked the SuperLiga over Cobi’s retirement, for two reasons. First, because Cobi’s still around, and second, because I was at that DC game and it was magical. And the final was too, even though we lost. (That Chris Klein bicycle kick? Exquisite.)

I also choose Superliga. I was at the final and that bicycle kick was just amazing for so many reasons. And after we were one Donovan-penalty kick away from winning…
that was a tough loss.

for me the good moment was when the couch Frank Yallop was fired , i cant wait also for Pavon to leave the team since he is a wast of money and useless player

I vote for Superliga… That was a great bicycle kick.
Speaking of Superliga, have you heard that you guys are getting into the Superliga again? Rumor has it Pachuca rejected the invitation this year and you guys are in.

Galaxy Reaching the Inaugural Superliga Final, has to be the highlight of the season. But Cobi retiring and Beckham playing in his 1st Galaxy game were important moments also.
