Watching the RSL-Galaxy Game? Leave Comments

By: Laurie | May 3rd, 2008

Final Score
RSL 2-2 Galaxy

Espindola 7′ ; Beckham 35′, 40′
Deuchar 18′

All righty. Ten minutes to kickoff. I’m reading that Jazic is available. Will this affect the lineup?

I don’t think I’m going to liveblog this one. Maybe next week. But I will be actively commenting and hope you will too.

Neither of these teams is known for excellent defense, so let’s see some goals! Hopefully more for us than for them.

It seemed that the last twenty minutes the game slowed down quite a bit for both teams. And, luckily we were abel to hold on to the tie! So, we still maintain our standing in the MLS Conference table (as well as, among our many doubters). I still think Ruud Gullit is still not happy with today’s performance. Again, we knew it was going to be hard playing at Rice-Eccles, and, the RSL players know this turf and dimensions of the field a lot better than our players do. RSL had more corner kicks opportunity; but, shots-on-goals were about the same between the two teams.

Question: Since Vanney has two accumulated yellow cards, so far – then, in how many more games will not those two yellow cards accumulated not be as vital / dangerous? I believe our guys did put fight back into this game… But, it’s almost like Ruud, David, Landon, and Cronin has to be mad and yell – for the rest of the team to pick up their steam and start playing with more urgency and pressure. Next game is at home (HDC) against New York Red Bulls. If both Angel and Altidore are available and play… Oh-oh… again, we will have our work cut out for us!!!

    Come on, San Jose!

The next game won’t be available on any channels I can see. This pisses me off.

Laurie, SJ vs. FCD… Score is still 0 – 0. Don’t you have MLSlive.tv through internet??? You can still watch it on-line if you are subsribed for this season.

FCD Midfielders are much more “deep / solid” than SJ midfielders. Plus, FCD has fast runners in Kenny Cooper, Ricardinho, Arturo Alvarez, and Dax McCarty. But, right now, SJ is applying some good runs and pressure. SJ is indeed playing as they have to win. Good to see. I’m not trying to rub it in – just trying to fill you in as much as possible.

Glen – you’re so right! The grass looks so green, and soft – then, again I don’t what the temperature is like at Buck Shaw stadium in Oakland. But, so far – the SJ defense is very good (tight!). I believe forming a very good defensive line is one of Yallop’s specialties.

Charles, yes, I have MLSlive.tv. Thing is, my husband showed up five minutes into the second half after three days out of town. I DO have my priorities.

But I second how wonderful and inviting the actual grass looked after the Rice-Eccles field turf.

No worries, Laurie… Of course, marriage & family – priority 1. Understand! Carry on! Glad that a few of us could keep you company on the blog during the game. Good night.

I was too sleppy at 4 am to understand what happened to us at first 20 minutes, but team is just on the begining of the road. One good CB won’t hurt…but that’s what we have now.
    Franclin is THE MAN-love him!
You know what, this team already has a mentality of winners-this is the main thing in playoffs…Playoffs? We will be there!
P.S. First Beck’s goal, was so old good trick,he saw that goalkeeper left his line and was ready for the cross…classic

My computer isn’t close enough to the TV to stop by while the match was on, but I was so depressed during the first 20 minutes that I almost stopped watching and came here to drown my sorrows. I’m glad they were able to get back in the game and get the point, but it’s a little scary to see that the whole team is capable of playing as badly as they did coming out. No accuracy (including from the “best crosser in the world”), no energy, no possession, no plan. Oy VEY. HUGE relief when they perked up and started moving the ball around better, with some nice service into the box and good efforts on goal, but thought Gullit might have a stroke first.

Turf!!!! Even for plastic there’s no excuse for that quality, from the ripples it looked like the old rug over concrete. Ball handling problems apart, American football players run on average 5 minutes per game, soccer football players shouldn’t have to submit their bodies to that surface — home or away sides.

    Definitely was NOT boring!

Glen, I agree about the calls, refs might be getting too careful now about favoring the Galaxy, although this one was letting things go both ways at least for awhile. Beckham should been awarded the penalty, but it was tight and the ref might have looked at it as handing the Galaxy a goal — still, he had the ball and was heading to an open net so that’s no excuse…but we do see those called erratically everywhere. Gordon certainly deserved better protection in the end as well.

    Oh,What a dissapointment…lol
I just try to improve my “wathcing sistem”,because it’s embarassing to wake up so early on Sunday (sunday isn’t a weekend in Israel) and look at black screen for the good 30 minutes of the game or even more,to pray on sopcast’s peers…
I want to buy MLS tv,but don’t know if it works in Israel. My ESPN or Fox show game once in a month (still didn’t deside which one of their commentators I hate more. lol),but I definitely would suffer them +advert during the game if they just show it every sunday.

Why aren’t the Galaxy games being played on ESPN2? Instead, they’re playing figure skating, poker, LPGA, softball, arena football, and HS b-ball. I know soccer isn’t popular here, but DAMN!!! Do we have to petition ESPN or MLS or someone else?
