Well, Actually, It’s Quaranta to Red Bulls. THAT’s What I Meant

By: Laurie | June 29th, 2007

quaranta2.jpgOkay, so I lied. Santino’s not going to the Wizards.

Or maybe I was misled by the Kansas City press, who absolutely positively pinkie swore that Santino Quaranta was coming. Whatever. According to Soccer by Ives, who hasn’t steered me wrong so far, and MetroFanatic, Red Bulls are acquiring Santino for a “conditional fourth round draft pick.” (Or, in other words, “Take Santino and his $100,000 salary off our hands for practically free! Please!”)

Goodbye, Santino. We’ll miss you. Wish things could have been different. (As in: Wish you’d shown up for the season in shape and ready to play, because who knows where we could have gone together if that had been the case.)

Fresh starts can be a good thing if you utilize them as a motivational kick in the ass. Better luck with the Red Bulls.

Well, this will be a much peppier bag of balls than the ones we would have gotten from the Wiz.

And they will include taurine to boot. My cat will be extremely happy about that. Umm, these are mini-balls, right?

As I said to Ives, I'm suprised we didn't take Markus Schopp in return. Don't we have a team rule about only taking former national team players over the age of 30 for our future stars?

Watch Quaranta dust the Crew to two goals this weekend...
