What? No Beckham On the All-Star Ballot?
By: Laurie | May 17th, 2007Fox Sports is reporting this like it’s the scandal of the year. Because — brace yourself, this is a shocker — David Beckham isn’t on the MLS All-Star ballot.
He totally should be, right? I mean, just because he’s not playing in MLS? And won’t even be available to play in MLS until after the voting closes? And probably won’t be playing in MLS at all until after the All-Star game? Details, people! I mean, the man is David Beckham!! Why should he have to prove himself like the rest of those soccer-playing schlubs?
My thought? Good call, MLS ballot guys. If all goes well, he’ll still have at least a couple of years where he can actually earn the slot.
Let’s see it happen.

He’ll probably be on the team anyways since the commission gets to pick two players. I think its right to keep him off the ballot so people can vote for the players who are actually playing now instead of voting for Beckham, who will probably appear in the game anyways.

Good call Coaster. Who wants to vote for Beckham when you can vote for Ronnie O’Brien? He played for Juventus for chrissake.

I’m honestly not sure how I feel about a player who’s never played in a league being appointed to an All-Star team. Even if it is Beckham.

I can tell you quite honestly how I feel about it. Bad. It sucks. I assumed he’d be left off of the team and I hope that’s still the case, though watching David Beckham get beat by Celtic would knock off #7 on my Things-to-do-before-I-die list.
