Thing was, though, what happened later in the season? Seriously, can anybody tell me? There was some kind of undefined “injury,” probably knee, that didn’t seem traceable to any one accident or event. That’s worrisome in any player, but especially in an older one. And then there’s that artificial turf thing.

If what went wrong was a single, treatable injury, then by all means bring him back. But I’m not sure that’s the case, and we can’t afford to have a player in a key position who spends more time on the treatment table than on the field. Been there, done that with too many players last year. And if he wasn’t on the roster, that frees up $156,000. So yes, I really DID like Xavier. Still do. But I’m trying not to be sentimental here.

I also read the Figo-to-AEG rumor. I can’t see it being true, partly because I think AEG is selling Houston, and there’s no way the Galaxy could afford him! And I’m not sure he’s what the team needs anyway.
