Wise men say only fools rush in
By: DAS | March 20th, 2011It is two hours to the home opener and Los Angeles has become the south pacific. My wife laid down in no uncertain terms that I am not subjecting my children to two hours of this weather, not even for our beloved Galaxy. After stepping outside for only a couple of minutes, I am frankly surprised the game is still on. I appreciate the league’s tenacity, but these conditions are not merely inhospitable but unsafe. I don’t know if the field is covered right now, but even if so it will be a swamp within a quarter of an hour. If Beckham twists an ankle and is out for a month, I will be sorely pissed.
As far as pre game analysis, it’s not exactly my strong suit and my week has not allowed me much time to read up. But with Nathan still on injured reserve I though I’d at least toss in a couple of points.
In theory today should be Angel’s debut. He’ll of a coming out party. Not sure about Ricketts and Gonzalez, but I think they are still injured.
Even so, New England should, in theory, be an easy win. Stripped of some of their better players, they are really still a team in transition. I never take Shalrie Joseph lightly, but even he seems to have had some personal issues lately that might impact his play. I never assume a win, but I would be disappointed with any other result tonight. Although, with the heavens open wide like this, it is sure to be a game of slosh ball from which it is hard to know what to expect.
I hear rumor the game may be on Galavision. So if the league doesn’t come to their senses and cancel I may try to brush up on my espanol again.
For those of you braver than I (or perhaps less wise) good luck out there and spectate safely.
