What’s Simple About a “Simple Hernia Operation”?

By: Laurie | January 12th, 2008

scalpel.jpgOkay, gents. Perhaps one of you can give me the definition of “simple” hernia operation, which is the surgery recently undergone by Troy Roberts and former Galaxy guy Joe Cannon.

Or not. Maybe we just don’t want to go there?

Perhaps I’m overreacting, being, y’know, female and all. But when I think of something that involves one of my loved ones, a knife, and a sensitive area, the word “simple” is not one that comes to mind.

(And yes, I do realize that posts like this are probably why respectable people don’t put me on their blogrolls.)

But anyhoo. According to the official Galaxy blog:

Both Joe Cannon and Troy Roberts underwent simple hernia operations just before Christmas and are already back working out in the gym almost everyday here at The Home Depot Center.

Do paragraphs like that make you cringe? Make you glad you’re not a professional sports star? Make you think: Did I want to know this?

And troublingly, I realized after I asked that last question that my answer is: Well, yes. Kind of.

Sometimes it’s disturbing being a fan.

But…um…yeah. Get well soon, boys!
