Hilarious! I was just reading an article about AIG’s sponsorship of Manchester United and I got the lot of the mixed up.

The wet dreams of most team owners involve things that would horrify all fans and players everywhere, beyond actually thinking of them having one, not least the thrill of chewing up players and spitting them out.

Should Laurie get out the old punch drunk boxer movies we chatted about last season? AEG doesn’t seem overly concerned with any of their players’ health in the face of making a dollar — or “cracking the Asian market”… and crack it to offer what as we asked during the exhausting pre-season.

Sigh.

AEG or AIG? If it’s AIG, then they might put Beckham on a worldwide tour again so that they can pull themselves out of the financial hole they’re in.

And an AEG wet dream somehow also involves Alexi Lalas as GM and an MLS team falling to the bottom of the league table.

ralphy, the problem is that AIG make millions of dimes every time Beckham does one of the those things — England, GQ, sharpie, whatever. And the side-trip to the Olympics, in China? An AIG wet-dream.

Unfortunately, while he’s been asked and done no more for clubs and sponsors for almost ten years now, its never impacted his game for this long before. Obviously there are more miles and time zones and a league that doesn’t follow the fifa calendar, but knowing that isn’t much comfort to fans, and probably not to teammates, coaches or the player himself.

Nothing new in the business of sports, but always sad anyway.

Get rid of beckham, let him play international, photo shoots, commercials, etc on someone elses dime and time!
Use the money and get back Albright, Marshall, and another midfielder! And yes, now is the time to FAN UP or shut up……….

As much as the players are to blame for playing like crap, some poor descions on the part of the admin. Signing Dominguez is a joke. I think he gets a pretty penny too and it’s hurt our defense. The scouting should have been better and got somebody who would have worked. And sending carlos ruiz for almost nothing is pathetic, they gave in to easily! They should have tried to get a decent player in return for the defense or center mid from toronto! Like Julius James (who could be killer with Franklin)

I don’t get it. Some bad decisions, some bad losses, and suddenly the whole league sucks? The Galaxy made bad choices. They have now fired the GM, brought in a more suitable coach, and are already starting to see results. It doesn’t change overnight. They still suck and probably won’t make the playoffs. But it is still our team and they are turning things around. Either you’re a bandwagoner or this is the time to fan up.

Wow, and I was actually excited about this season at its start…

Now I’ve had a 3 month drought in terms of excitement…

I hate MLS. I’m beginning to hate LA.

All I can do now is continue what I usually do, and that’s watch Chelsea hopefully conquer the EPL. I won’t even be watching a single MLS game for the remainder of the season. It is pathetic.
