Alexi and Frank: Trouble in Paradise?
By: Laurie | July 10th, 2007Poor Alexi Lalas and Frank Yallop. The GM-Coach relationship is always kind of like an arranged marriage. You take what you’re given, put your trust in the people who got you together and try to make it work.
At the Galaxy right now, what with all the Beckham stuff going on, things are kind of like that arranged marriage. While going through a major home remodel. When you just had a baby. And your dog has developed a continence problem. And the temperature is 100 degrees out. And your air conditioning doesn’t work. And your mother-in-law is coming to visit for six months.
Get the picture?
Is it any wonder that rumor has it that Frank and Alexi are having some issues? Ives Galarcep reports that they’re barely speaking these days.
Just what has led to this situation remains unclear but it may have something to do with all the trading Alexi Lalas has done in recent weeks. Has Yallop been on board with every decision? Is Lalas basically building the roster the way he sees fits, regardless of whether Yallop agrees or not?
If that is so, it wouldn’t be the first time for Lalas. He imposed player acquisitions on Bob Bradley during his time with the MetroStars and his track record with coaches has shown Lalas to be someone who isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers or damage working relationships in order to get his way.
Sounds like tons of fun for Frank, huh?
But don’t worry, guys. I’m quite certain that things will get back to normal after Friday, when Becks finally gets here.
Just keep telling yourself that.

Canning Lalas is the answer. I think he may have ADD…not that one should get fired for such things…

Goff made the suggestion and people took off with it: Frank Yallop to head a potential San Jose expansion side is a popular idea.

I saw it on Ives, but I would have agreed with Goff too.
