Cheap Entertainment For You and Your Date, With Love From MLS (Maybe)
By: Laurie | February 13th, 2007
So in case you’re interested. As I’m sure EVERYBODY is. Did you know that you can watch every single MLS game from last season? Every one! Directly from your computer! And best of all, for only $9.99! No, not per game! For the complete season!
Hey, would I kid you about something like this? With Valentine’s Day coming up?
Seriously. Imagine the possibilities. You and your date, cuddled together in your little office chair, feeding each other strawberries, leaning close to see the little four-inch screen… And then you get all excited over a goal and tip over your champagne on her keyboard…
Okay, so maybe not. But. This is still an opportunity. Or at least I think it is. If they ever get the links to work. Go to MLSnet.com and see if you can find your way around. I’d give you specific directions, except that I’ve already bought the package, so for some reason it won’t give me directions to buy it again.
One minor detail, though? The links are currently not working. It’s funny — this will tell you exactly the current demand for this package. I signed up on January 26 and the links didn’t work. I didn’t get around to calling customer service till Feb. 7. The guy (the very helpful DeShan from California) checked out my problem and said, “Whoa. Looks like these have never been activated.” So in those two weeks (and before), how much demand do you think there was?
But this will all change with Beckham’s arrival, right? I’m guessing that next year, with Beckham, demand will be SO HIGH that they’ll be able to charge as much as TWELVE dollars for the package! MLS solvency, here we come!
But anyhow. My friend DeShan sent the fix request up to tech support and…
I’m still waiting. But in the meantime, I CAN watch the video highlights. Meaning: All the goals and near-misses. Which is all I really need, right?

Is it possible to bet on last season’s games too?

It probably depends on how much alcohol you serve at the tailgate party you’ll be holding around your computer screen.

I actually WANT to do this, which clearly means I have a problem. But I’m not going to just DONATE my hard-earned $10 to MLS! Laurie, any word from their (one harried) tech support guy on when we’ll actually get to see the games?

Martha, I sent off an e-mail today. And linked to this post. So THAT should get ‘em hopping, right?

This actually seems like a good deal (except for the not working part). I need to get up to speed on the Galaxy since I’m going to adopt them as my MLS team (I only live 100 miles away from LA anyway - oh and Beckham is an incentive too). Let me know when it works Laurie.

Yeah, what’s the deal there? I can never get the MLS media player to work on the free content. if they fix that, I might just buy.
