Galaxy Injury Update
By: Laurie | May 1st, 2007The Galaxy have the weekend off again. Next game will be the US Open Cup game next Tuesday, May 8 against the Red Bulls. After that it’s the NE Revolution at home on 5/12. (And the Galaxy Reserves play the NE Revolution Reserves on May 13.) But before that, the guys will be heading to La Mirada to play an exhibition game against the Southern California Seahorses on Wednesday night. (Yes, that’s their real name. Don’t make fun. It’s not nice. How do you think it feels to be a Seahorse?)
So who’s going to play in these games? you ask. Well, let’s take a look at this week’s injury updates to see what we can find out, shall we?
Alan Gordon is still out. That’s not unexpected. But he’s been joined by Troy Roberts, who just had hip surgery “to correct a labral tear.” Ouch. Sounds painful. And he’ll be out 2-3 months, which is even more painful.
Ian Russell is also out, the issue being an undefined calf injury. And a calf injury is what’s making Tyrone Marshall questionable. (Question: Was this what took him down in the game? The injury that gave me the panic attack because we’d already made all our subs? Way to suck it up and take it for the team, Tyrone! My blood pressure thanks you.)
Quavas Kirk suffered a reinjury in Saturday’s game, this time to his foot.
“I guess I just maybe strained something again in the same spot in my heel again,” said the young midfielder. “We’re going to get some pictures on Monday. But it doesn’t seem like good news.”
Yes, it sucks to be this young with a recurring injury. Let’s hope he’s better soon.
And on the good news side of the ledger, both Pete Vagenas and Gavin Glinton are listed as “probable.” Yea!! And Santino Quaranta isn’t listed at all, so I’m assuming this means he’s so completely and totally better from that Achilles tendon injury that there’s absolutely no point in mentioning that he was ever hurt. Right?
And that’s our injury news. Get well soon, guys!
