Galaxy Kind of Won’t Raise Ticket Prices (Immediately)
By: Laurie | September 22nd, 2007Guess what? Apparently the Galaxy is NOT raising ticket prices.
Kind of.
IF you’re a current season ticket holder, and IF you renew by October 19, they’ll give you your seats at 2007 prices.
After that, though, all bets are off.
Isn’t that kind of them. A bit of a “thank you for your support through our sucking even though there’s no guarantee we won’t still suck next year” bonus.
“As a sign of our appreciation for our season ticket holders continued support and loyalty, they are being given the exclusive opportunity to purchase 2008 season tickets at the 2007 prices if renewed by October 19, 2007,” said LA Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas. “The results to date have not been what our fans expect or deserve, but there is much to be excited about for 2008 and beyond. As always, we remain committed to giving our season seat holders a successful and entertaining team and one that fans can be proud to support, on and off the field.”
(At the moment I’m finding the exact wording only at the soccer blog 100% soccer, but when folks start using direct quotes I become a believer.)

I’m a season ticket holder and this quote was taken exactly from a letter we received on Thursday. It even came with a handy chart that shows what new season ticket buyers will be paying vs. what we pay.
But what I found even more interesting was another line of the letter, I quote “The results to date have not been what you expect or deserve, but there is much to be excited about for 2008. We will be returning a core group of players who have gone through an extraordinary experience together…We will also be acquiring new and exciting international talent to upgrade the overall quality of our team.”
Could this lend some credence to those crazy Zidane rumors?

Oh, Colin, do not tease me so! Do you really think there’s a chance that Zizou could come to the Galaxy? I’m thinking it’s more likely Figo (who would also add interest.) But a woman can dream, right?
