Galaxy v. Wizards
By: jen | September 13th, 2008
The Suck Bowl.
My husband is a lifelong New Orleans Saints fan. For years now whenever the Saints play a team with an equally poor record he calls it “The Suck Bowl.” A fitting moniker for the game — but the game usually ends up being quite entertaining. A sucky offense against a sucky defense? Entertaining!
That’s probably what today’s match between the Galaxy and Wizards will be. Both teams are 6-9-8, and each team sits at the bottom of their respective divisions.
Luckily for us, we have the offensive quad of Lewis, Donovan, Beckham, and Buddle to take advantage of KC’s weak defense. And our own defense keeps getting stronger as Franklin and Roberts continue to gel in the center back.
So it should be a good game; an entertaining one to watch.
I predict a Galaxy win with a score of 3-1.
Come watch with me! Add comments throughout the game here.

That’s why Gordon is going to get cut next year.

10 minutes left. Let’s at least make it respectable.

Their done! No playoffs again! Time for the team to be gutted and start again. Hopefully, Beckham will leave soon and we can get back to the old Galaxy that won games and played with passion. What a fricking mess we have become.

I actually think that Becks is worth the price. It’s the rest of the midfield that needs help.

Knock knock.
who’s there?
Offense.
Offense who?
Need I say more..Next week, DC 40, Galaxy 0.
Stick a fork in them, they are done.

I’m tired of all the excuses. Yallop, Lalas, Guillet..etc. The players have to get it done! The player on the G’s that gives effort on a consistant basis is Klein the rest are piss poor!

It’s sucks being a Galaxy fan right now! San Jose, Chivas and Toronto are above us. Unbelievable!

Nathan,
If got rid of Beckham we could affort a mid field…simple as that. Look at Houston no DP’s and hell of allot of sucess.

That game could have been ours if we could have just figured out the midfield.
Man does that sound familiar.
I have to say that having 4 starters either having played full games in the past 72 hours of having traveled 12,000 miles or something close to both, really left us with dead legs and the inability to dominate in a midfield where we really should have been able to have our way.
6 games left and we need a minimum of 42, based on last year’s final standings. We have 26. We need 16 of the 18 points on offer. That means 5 wins and 1 tie or 6 wins. Anything else and we are totally done.
I think we are totally done now, given the World Cup qualifying schedule in October, but statistically we are still alive until we have to play two games in October with scrubs. Fracking MLS schedule. Screwing teams like that.
Still, if the team wasn’t on a record-breaking 12 game non-winning streak it wouldn’t matter as much.
Frustrating to no end.

Dave, I don’t disagree, but I also think we can afford one with him too. It just takes someone other than Alexi Lalas to get it done.
I think there is a better than even chance that Donovan leaves the Galaxy during the winter transfer period, which frees up the equivalent of a Beckham against the salary cap. I also bet that MLS raises the cap by a good chunk next year, maybe close to $3 million total, which gives more room for midfielders as well. I’m just speculating on the cap though. THey might just do what they did before which is raise it like 2 percent or something stupid like that.

Also, San Jose are fun to watch these days. Which I don’t mind because I lived in Oakland for 10 years before moving to LA and throwing my lot in with the Galaxy.

So much for Jen’s prediction..Huh?
D.C. United at home next. Maybe the team will bring their balls for that game…
All I what is 100% from every player on the field.

from what I’ve read, I’m glad I missed the game. frustrating reading these comments knowing another season gone down the toilet. we need to get on a roll and win every game we have left and chances of that happening slim!

What the f*** just happened?
I think this is a chemistry problem. Either Landycakes or Beckham has to go. Of course, there’s tons of other problems, but for these stars not to produce shows me that something has to change. With Lewis, Beckham and Donovan, there’s no excuse for our poor possession. They can’t work as a unit, pure and simple. The midfield was better last week without those guys.
The 3 of them are good players..one’s gotta go.Posted from

now that man city is flush with cash with the new owners, any way we can beg them to buy Beckham, and use that $ to get back Albright????

In just a matter of mere minutes (when our guys lost focus, stepped off the pedal on marking, and seemed to look winded/battered), Wizards came in an made us pay! Personally, I don’t think there was anything that Wicks could have done to stop the second missile launcher from Davy Arnaud. I do think there’s a lot that Vanney, possibly Roberts, could have done to thwart Davy from making Davy’s Kick so accurate and pin-point! The goal from the flick off of Josh Wolff was because of incredible persistence from Herculez on either wing, and the failure/slowness/mis-timing of Troy & Klein. I’m not “downing” Klein – not at all – he gives his all out there on the pitch each & every game. In the right back position, I do believe he messes it up only because he’s so intent on being part of the attack along the wing. Yes, we had guys traveling – our main guys that are the creative & offensive masters of this team… but, David was off tonight. Not just on one or two crosses, but more! Bryan Jordan – love this kid – he made me so proud torturing Michael Harrington! In a mere matter of minutes, the balance of power shifted!
I’m sorry LAG fans (really, I am hurting inside) – but, we are NOT going make the 2008 play-offs. Too many games without wins. And, we have three more away games left to play! I don’t know why Donovan thought it was clever or comical to try to settle the ball his hand and thus get a yellow card out of it? For me, Landon (eventhough, I really appreciate him for his speed, his break-out ability, and what he brings to both club matches and USMNT matches) – Landon always been a player who needs to be the focus of attention. I think it’s time he learns what’s waiting for him outside of MLS. I think many at times, US forwards (like Eddie Johnson, for example) think that they got the goods to make it in Europe. Oh, how very sadly, they’re mistaken. I really hope Freddy Adu and Jozy Altidore get the most out of their time in Europe… and, that is to learn and to practice as much as possible from world-class coaches, staff, and players… When they come back, it’ll make for a much better MLS!
I really can’t stand how badly we’re choking and suffering on this salary cap CRAP!!! I do NOT want David to leave the LAG. Why force a world-class player who is definitely awesome for this league to leave because the power-thirsty sorcerers inside this league wants to be the new soccer mafia? I absolutely see no gain in points by having Greg Vanney, Pete Vagenas, Alan Gordon, and Troy Roberts continue to play the rest of this season. I want LAG to give more chances to all of the rest: especially Brandon McDonald, Josh Tudela, Mike Munoz, Eduardo Dominguez, Joey Franchino, Izzy Sesay, Julian Valentin, Scott Bolkan, and Vardan Adzemian. I want the four “grandpa’s” I listed above off of the LAG at the end of this season!!!Posted from

what a dreadful game to watch. So painful. This team played with no heart. I was so shocked that there was only one substitution in the match! We really needed some fresh legs in the second half, but Alan Gordon was not the answer.
I am tired of people dogging Beckham. This guy is not the problem. He shows up and plays hard ever game. He manner of play is frustrating sometimes (tends to pass up shots and looks only to deliver the long service, but he also tries to elevate his teammates through his style of play. He is the best short and long passer on the team, but the first touch by pretty much everyone except Buddle is usually piss poor.
This team desperately needs a win but more importantly needs to get some fire back. There is no question that Arena is going to make wholesale changes to this team for next season, but for now things are going to be a mess.

Charles I can honestly say that Troy and Franklin are fine Back there. Troy is not a bad CB and he is young and learning more and more, he gets better every game. I can not see how you can say to not let him play, and then you want to play Dominguez who is older. If you want us to play a young team and let them learn then you leave Troy in. I would bench Becks ass until he learns how to F’in play, he was walking towards the guy on the second goal, made me sick.
