Galaxy vs. Crew on Audio. Because Visuals Might Make People Care or Something
By: Laurie | April 23rd, 2007If you’re spinning through the channels tomorrow night looking for the Columbus Crew – LA Galaxy US Open Cup qualifier, well, just keep spinning. Because you’re not going to find it. Unless you’re in Columbus (or willing to travel there,) you’re not seeing this game. As far as I can tell, the only place it’s available is audio only on LAGalaxy.com
Granted, it’s not a league game. It’s not even an actual US Cup game. (Gone are the days when all MLS teams qualified automatically. Now the bottom teams from last season need to go through qualifiers. And that would include…? Oh, yeah, us. So this game is to see if we’re even actually good enough to play with the big boys this year. How humiliating.)
The only thing more humiliating would be to lose. Which is a possibility. The Crew aren’t doing that great this year — they currently have three points from three draws in three games. That’s not stellar, but it’s still better than we’re doing.
Still, though, you’d think there’d be video available somewhere. If not on TV, then on broadband. I’d even be happy to watch without commentary, so they could save on commentator salaries. (I’d be even happier to watch without commentary if the other option were Eric Wynalda. But I digress.)
But anyhow… Tuesday, Crew vs. Galaxy. 4:30 PST. LAGalaxy.com. Let’s cross our fingers, turn on our audio, and hope for the best. (And hope that this game doesn’t affect our performance against a rather smokin’ hot Chivas team on Saturday. Because we really need that win.)
