New Galaxy Kit (and this is Probably Really the One)

By: Laurie | July 2nd, 2007

galaxy-kit.jpgNew Galaxy kit? What do you think?

I’ll…offer…up an opinion…if I can… just… stop… ***YAWNING***

Actually, I suppose it’s less horrible than it could be. I particularly like the yellow snakes climbing up the armpits. But I’m not sure it’s an improvement over the old look.

But then again, they’ll make a lot more money by rebranding and that’s all that really matters, right?

Laurie – Glad I could take over for your regular inappropriateness while it took a little vacation. I’ll be leaving the country soon, so you’ll have to be that much more inappropriate soon to keep up this dirty American image we have going for us.

I’m pouting :( . And NO, on behalf of all Real Madrid fans everywhere, that does not remotely resemble The White Shirt (or the exquisite black away shirt). Maybe this is just another yellow streaked herring…

I like it. Simple but with a little color with the “snakes”. The logo is “meh” but I think I’ll get used to it.

This was official for a couple of hours (almost half a day). I suspect someone at Adidas got fired (or someone hacked the site), because this was up for sale on the official Adidas website, though with a dubious and suspicious description. I like the new kit, don’t know about the badge though.

Actually, Julien, it’s kind of grown on me too. Simple yet not too boring. I like the colors on the collar and sleeves. Plus the snakes add interest and will probably put fear into the hearts of opponents. Because hey, if the Galaxy can deal with snakes heading for their onions, they must be tough!

I just went to Eurosport (soccer.com) to see if I was being too fussy and discovered that most of the other shirts have their crests higher up and cooler type faces advertising their sponsor…especially Barca which cleverly has UNICEF ;-) .
OF COURSE when you open Eurosport’s home page Beckham’s up top in an Adidas ad for his new shoe, and they managed to design a cool enough shirt for him to wear THERE! I had stopped pouting, but now I’m holding on at least until I see the shorts and away shirt :-( !

Diane, yes, I have high hopes for the away shirt.

(I have a bizarre fascination with away shirts anyway. I have no explanation.)

I hope this is the new jersey. I saw some other jersey on the net that looked disturbing. This jersey looks good. Like the colors and the new crest.

Personally I like the new kit, of course it’s the same colors as my alma mater, so maybe that’s why. The logo is a little too simple, but it has that international appeal i think they’re looking for. I took a minute to try and figure out what the front of the away jersey would look like based off of the other 3 views that were leaked. I noticed they didn’t continue the large gold stripes on the front, I wonder why. Oh, and I did a crappy rendition of the logo. I don’t know if posting images will work, but here goes..

Andrew, I like it. I also noticed that the gold snakes didn’t carry over to the away kit. This is an excellent guess as to what it will look like. I’m wondering if they’d stick with the simple dark navy or pull the sky blue from the collar into something on the front.

(I wish I could do PhotoShop-type stuff. What fun I could have with this blog…)

Laurie, i just saw the official new kit and you were right! they did work in a little more of the sky blue down from the collar. I’m not sure if I like that part to be honest.

anything is better than the old jerseys. i was worried that beckham and mls would look dumb if people saw us in green and gold. yellow is just not the way to go for a home jersey.

Yawn. Although the old colors of green and yellow were not properly applied, they did allow the Galaxy to diiferentiate itself from the other teams in the MLS. There are 13 MLS teams and now all but three of them have either red or blue as their primary colors.

Just for fun I thought I would do a version of the new jerseys in the old colors (green and gold). I also tried to bring back the diagonal stripe into the logo because I think it was one of the distinguishing features of the old galaxy jerseys. (It looks a little like a Crayola box tho haha)
