Stop the Presses! Becks May Play in SuperLiga After All!

By: Laurie | August 28th, 2007

Despite still being reported by the Galaxy website as “Out” for the SuperLiga game, David Beckham apparently today told the press that he planned to try to play.

Does this situation define the phrase “mixed emotions” or what?

If he played, and they won… Well, LA would get some silverware to counteract the rest of this lost season. We’d have something to hold onto and hope for!

But if he plays and makes the injury worse and knocks himself out for the rest of the season…

Oh, what the hell. The regular season can’t get any worse, right? And he’s probably going to have to take significant time off before he can play regularly again regardless.

(And I’m sure that these are the same thoughts running through his mind.)

Play, David! Play!

Remember your post from awhile back about how creepy the whole dancing monkey vibe was getting? Well that was before he was dancing this injured…just saying.

Let’s try to avoid the words “permanent injury” when thinking of any of these limping kids tomorrow night. BTW, did you know that the average NFL career span is THREE YEARS!? Didn’t have a chance to ask how many leave permanently crippled in some way or the other, but everyone knows its too many. And that’s not just the defensive line. This should probably not be the area in which we are competing with American football.

Friendly rivalry aside, good luck tonight. We all hope MLS is represented!
